The graphics seem PS2 but when you're ducked bhind something and kick in the 2'nd person view to shoot around things, the detail in your character's head is far above PS2. I think FEAR was more of a PS2 game though.

Fair enough.

No way. Either that, or man, they must've really done a wretched port or something. I've played FEAR on the PC and believe me: There's no way you could mistake it for a PS2 game if you tried.

If so, I'd love to know which PS2 games you guys are thinking of!

Although I don't have rainbow six yet, I did read the review and this game does seem to have problems with running in 1080i. It may depend on the type of TV that you have. The previews that I saw, the game looked desent at least. If you don't like it then played the 360 version.

I played RS in 1080i on a CRT and it was fine. As for FEAR... I just wasn't impressed with it in any way. Nothing in it really stood out for me but then... I did play it right after Resistance so I expected more out of it. I think that's the real problem... Resistance spoils you.

I run it at 1080p but its not a 1080p game so..... As soon as I saw the PQ I thought they could & should be better. but the game on line is a lot of fun! Its a 720p game and should be playd in that rez. But i just have everything set to 1080p & leave it like that.

We have some great looking games coming out such as Heavenly Sword, Stranglehold, Uncharted Drake's Fortune, and Rage

I agree. I finished the game the other day, and I loved it. The graphics aren't that big of a deal for me, it was a very fun game.

Dude, they weren't talking about the PC version of FEAR, that looks sick. The PS3 port on the other hand, looks like butt. Ugly, ugly butt.

i thought the graphics were ps2-ish at first, and if you take a quick glance, they don't look impressive at all..but when your rappelling down a fast rope, up against a wall or looking at your gun, it looks alright...i mean, the 360 version is far superior, not just the graphics, but the online mode..i only play online for this game, and the search filter...well..lol, there really isn't any..i don't understand why because the 360 version u can filter a game with 9 or more people playing..and get to see the rooms available..why not make the ps3 version just as convenient if not better since it came out a year after..in the ps3, u pick a game type, and maybe a map u prefer and u just get tossed into a random game..i love this game, but that disgusts me

I would have to agree about the lame ass online experience.
I called and asked if they were going to patch it and the rep said thats the way sony wanted it and they made it to sonys specifications. and the problem was sonys psn.

The graphics were ok and certainly not next gen but online play was fun so it evened out. The crappy matchmaking along with the constant kicking is why I didn't buy it in the end. I'm hoping Ghost Recon coming out in a few weeks is better but I'll rent it first.

That sounds like someone making excuses. I didn't think Sony had any real control over games made by outside companies. Even if they did have that kind of influence, why would they ok RFOM's but force R6V to be crappy? Ubisoft isn't exactly a small developer so I couldn't see Sony jerking around a developer like that over something so trivial.

Well I enjoy the online because I play with my friends. After playing most new games on both the PS3 and 360 the graphics on this really show how weak they are. The AI couls use improving and so could the physics. The death animations are very much the same. I know that the will come out with a new next year and it will use this first one and a building block. Just Cause on the 360 last yeat has about double the graphics of this one. FEAR on PS3 also didnt look good. The PC version owned the ports. This is why I will be playind COD4, Haze and Unreal very soon. Timeshift might be a sleeper hit aswell.

Not to resurrect an old thread, but I just picked up this game because I keep hearing so many good things about it.

The game does look pretty crap @ 1080i. All this talk about playing it @ 720p... is there a fast way to switch that in-game? Or do I need to adjust the PS3's display settings every time I play?

Secondly, I'm having issues with the snake cam. The game says to use your snake cam to look inside rooms and tag enemies, but I can't manipulate the snake cam at all. It goes straight up very quickly, so all I have is a covert view of the ceiling. Any thoughts here?

Thx.

The Snake Cam uses the Six Axis Controls... Tilt the controller in the direction you want the camera to look...

I had the same issue when I first started to play the game...
