Default Rainbow Six Vegas Resolution Issue

Okay, so I bought Rainbow Six Vegas a few weeks ago and I never really got around to playing it. So I finally hit it up and I was shocked when the game seemed blurry and poorly detailed (the resolution was 1080i). I was playing it on split-screen multiplayer though. I checked the web and a site (IGN I believe) reviewed it, but said the game has terrible issues with 1080i and should be played at 720p. So that's what I've been doing. I decided to check out 1080i again but it still seems blurry. Thing is, I'm not sure if it really is or if I think it is because I read it's supposed to be. I haven't heard anyone else complain about this issue so I was wondering if anyone knew if the issue was fixed by some patch or update. Any clue?

Were you playing it at 1080i too? lol

Even when it's clear in 720p, the graphics are pretty s***ty. It took me a while to even like the game, but it's pissing me off alot. I prefer faster paced games like Resistance, or anything else really.

Cool

It looks the same on the 360, a little soft. But I wonder if that's how its supposed to look with all the neon lights and stuff. I remember reading an article about it before it was released. Makes it difficult to play if there's the slightest glare on the screen

I haven't tried this game on my PS3, but my 360 version is perfect. No blur and the glare off neon lights doesn't distract in the slightest. I've heard that they've had a lot of issues with ports from Ubisoft games.

i have this game, and yeah, it definetly should be played on 720p..and the game has provided me hours of fun, its not the single player that is any special..you have to go online and start working on your rank, it gets pretty fun and strategic once your familiar with the maps..try it online, team sharpshooter

The story mode is too short. The strength of the game is online play. I prefer playing the co-op Terrorist hunts with my buddies.

The game has issues with the 1080i the 720p is clear on mine but there is no in game brightness controls which sucks cause the game is way too dark. The heat vision doesn't look right on the ps3 either, everything is black or red I can see the enemies fine but you cant hardly make out the room. The 360 everything is blueish and well defined only black if it is a long ways away.
I like the "tactical" aspect. I get bored playing resistance online since its mostly free for all deathmatches.
All in all the 360 version is better I hate saying that cause I had high hopes for it.I had so much fun playing it on my 360 that I bought this the day it came out on for the ps3 man what a let down.

I think it is a lot more fun than Resistance but ultimately it is just a different game.. Have you EVER played a RB6 game before? They have been similar style for over 10 years.

Default Explaining 1080p & Rainbow Six

At first I too was TOTALLY disgusted with the 1080p picture. It really was unexpected and it shocked me. 720p on the xbox 360 is way superior than 1080p on the PS3. But the PS3 on 720p shows a much better picture than the 360. Why is this so?

Firstly, and this is the important point, at 1080p the anti-aliasing is SWITCH OFF, because the PS3 can't do BOTH 1080p and anti-aliasing. It takes an enormous amount of power and this generation of console just hasn't got the power to do both.

Secondly, to disguise as much as possible the truly ugly aliased visuals at 1080p, Ubisoft simply blurred the visuals and this just made it worse. These are the worse 1080p visuals on the market today. No question about it.

The lesson to learn from all this is 1.) too many ignorant fanboys are calling out for 1080p visuals when 720p visuals TOGETHER WITH ANTI-ALIASING will produce a superior result. The poor developer answered the call for 1080p visuals and now you can all see for youself just how bad the outcome has been. Please leave the developers alone and don't pressure then to give something we are just not ready for.

Just today I was doing a direct comparison between the 360 and PS3 version of rainbow six-Las Vegas on my Sony 46 inch 1080p lcd tv. At 720p the PS3 just destroys the 360 in every way. Unless you have the elite 360 with HDMI output, the PS3 with HDMI will ALWAYS look better; much better clarity, definition, detail and contrast. In fact, the better the HDMI cable the better the picture will be. Finally the anti-aliasing on both versions are about the same, but the 360 may have a slight but inconsiderable advantage here.

I don't mind people expressing their opinions as to which version is better, thats what an open forum is for, but if you don't have the equipment to make a comparison, then your view will not be an informed one. For those I say, know the value of your opinion.

Well you do not need as much AA at higher resolutions because there is a sharper picture to begin with. Also, I am pretty sure the PS3 can handle AA @ 1080p on Sony specific games that are written specifically around the Sony processor. Xbox ports do not utilize this power so in this case may have bad results.

Thanks for tip tho I am going to run this game at 720p tonight and see how it looks compared.

It IS hazy... and it was on purpose. I just finished playing the whole thing this past weekend and it DOES take some getting used to. The haziness makes the enemy very hard to see but maybe that's a bit more realistic.

I will say, the enemy is very smart and it's a pretty good game but Resistance DOES spoil a person. Rainbow CAN be a fast paced game if you want to rush into every scenario but do so and you're sure to get nailed. Because of the haze, the graphics don't seem to be anything to write home about but once you stop and check your surroundings out, there's a lot of impressive detail closer up.

All in all, once you get used to the controls, pick your favorite weapons and go into a level like a anti-terrorist SWAT team instead of a balls-out run-all-over-the-place-while-shooting crazy-ass marine, the game works well. Dunno about on-line play yet but single player was fine. There's some really good levels there. Is Resistance better? Oh Hell yeah but to me, I had a better time analyzing options and playing in this game than I did in FEAR.

The game could have used some better textures and sharper picture. You have to realize this game has been out for awhile now and was originally designed for PC. It is not a next gen game at all.. like many PS3 titles.

However, I LOVE the animations in this game.. they are great compared to anything I have seen out. The audio is really great as well.

It sounds like GRAW2 may replace RB6v online though which has more current graphics.

i think you've made me decide not to get that game after all. I wasn't sure and thought it would be good, but I'm not that good at 1st person shooters and if the graphics aren't all that... think I'll pass on that one.
