Given that Brown threatened to kill Rihanna and subsequently allegedly strangled her until she passed out, it stands to reason that attempted murder is fair game for the DA’s office.

The only problem they’ll face is getting Rihanna to corroborate the story, and getting the jury to believe her side over his, since Rihanna and Chris were the only two witnesses.

Well if he truly did make a threat, then I agree. Attempted murder, guess that depends on the final analysis of how badly she was beat up.

From my understanding of law they try to get the highest charge possible for the crime committed.

Eventually with due process the charge will probably just end being domestic abuse.

According to Rihanna's reports, he strangled her until she passed out--when she awoke, he was gone. I wonder if he accidentally thought he killer her, and then freaked out and bailed. Oh well. One thing is clear--that poor girl got the crap beat out of her judging from the photograph. I hope he gets some jail time.

This whole thing was way worse then I thought it was initially. I thought he just bite and hit her once but after seeing the leaked photograph.....my goodness he beat the crap outta her. I feel so sorry for her and think he should be locked up for a long time. Simply inexcusable.

His career just took a high dive into an empty pool. Even if he avoids prison - not likely - he's going nowhere. This won't be forgotten. Nobody wants to enable another Ike Turner.

Exactly. The only thing worse he could have done is abuse and animal or child or murder someone. Americans in general are pretty forgiving--look at Britney Spears. Yet with Britney, and those like her, she was harming mostly herself through drugs and mental depression... though her parenting skills can be called into question as well. Yet most Americans still cheered for her to get better--she seems to have gathered her bearings, and her recent album sales have her back as a legit pop act proving that Americans can look past mistakes. However, with Chris, he knowingly and consciously physically harmed another person. That's an entirely different level.

If this wasn't Rihanna, and someone lesser known (not a popular artist or anything, just a 'normal' working person), Brown would be less time. Sad but true these days.

Probably wouldn't do any time, his lawyers would just offer them a check.

Not only that..... the police were so concerned about her that they rushed her to the hospital in a squad car rather than waiting for an ambulance.
