Well perhaps they learned from the disaster that was Apocalypse.

I am skipping this.

Bad writing, bad direction, inconsistencies, bad production values, continuity issues due to reshoots, bad CG. Aside from a few random character power moments, this movie is easily forgettable, which is disappointing, because there are random various things that are interesting. Characters inconsistently acting out of character to service the plot. Unfortunately, for an ensemble cast, they forgot to tell a compelling Phoenix story. The other actors tend to "steal the show" and derail the story. The ending is the same as Ang Lee's Hulk.

That's to bad, I haven't seen it yet but this should have been one of the best X-Men Stories, could have even made it a 2 parter. You have the right cast, I thought Sophie was ready to be the lead in a big budget movie but sounds like maybe not which is to bad. It's really interesting how you can have the same cast and director with Futures Past and Apocalypse and come out with a great movie and a below average/bad movie depending on your opinion. Just shows how important scripts, CGI, Timing, Budget/shooting days, and so many other factors let a movie not work. Even just take Oscar Issac and Kevin Bacon as the Villians. Such a contrast in what works and what doesn't.

I didn’t hate X-Men: Apocalypse like most people. The stakes in that movie weren’t very high (unlike Days of Future Past, which established the fate of the future with many characters dying, e.g. Iceman). Baddie-of-the-week type of script. Is Apocalypse just a misunderstood villain? X-Men: Apocalypse has become somewhat a parody, and, given that it is also cheesy and comic-booky, it is easier to be overly critical of it. (The question is if Deadpool 2 could make a CGI version of Juggernaut, why couldn’t they make a CGI version of Apocalypse instead of making up Oscar Isaac in prosthetics?) Jennifer Lawrence should never have been cast in First Class, but they kept using her. She is window dressing / marketing gimmick.

Not sure about Jennifer being Window dressing. You realize that the 1st Hunger Games had not even come out yet and Silver Linings Playbook had not either. She signed onto do First Class well prior to Silver Linings, I'm not sure about Hunger Games but that wasn't released first. So Unless my information isn't correct how could they have known she would be a good marketing gimmick? Not all Trilogys from best selling novels become guaranteed huge success at the box office, ask Maze Runner, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Divergent and so on. Again I think she may have signed on to do the Hunger Games but it had not come out before First Class.

She's a far better actress than Rebecca Romain Stamos who had the role prior. She's been nominated for 4 or 5 Oscars? I think 5 and this was after First class besides the one for Winters Bone which I think we all can agree the masses did not see. I assume your thinking that she was the super A list star she is now when she signed on to do First Class which I don't think is the case. She had to at that time sign up to do multiple X-Men movies through Apocalypse so they are really lucky they got her on the super cheap before she exploded. I could be wrong but l looked up the dates real quick and that's what I found in a quick 5 minute search.

I know there isn't much hope for this movie.

But even the marketing team gave up. They've been using times new roman font on all the posters. It just looks like everyone gave up

Really hope that art sticks!
But also part of me wants a digibook to match my last 2.

Then again my First Class is just an amaray so wouldn't mind them rereleasing that, DoFP and Apocalypse into nice looking 4K steels.

Love that artwork, so another one who hopes it stays, and whilst it isn't the best X-Men movie I still really enjoyed it and disagree with a lot of the criticisms.

Email from Amazon says it'll arrive 2nd Jan 2020, Amazon webpage says in stock 31st December 2019 (not a Monday but presumably both dates allow for Christmas hols); I've put 31/12/2019 as release into the Db but I don't know if it'll be be approved as it isn't on the other non-steel releases yet and officially it may be Monday 30th...

Whatever that looks like the approximate date so quite a wait...

Those are just placeholder dates. This will probably be out in September/October.

You're *probably* right though I find it a bit unusual they'd send out 'update emails' for placeholder dates; I can't remember that happening before, certainly not often.
