I didn’t hate X-Men: Apocalypse like most people. The stakes in that movie weren’t very high (unlike Days of Future Past, which established the fate of the future with many characters dying, e.g. Iceman). Baddie-of-the-week type of script. Is Apocalypse just a misunderstood villain? X-Men: Apocalypse has become somewhat a parody, and, given that it is also cheesy and comic-booky, it is easier to be overly critical of it. (The question is if Deadpool 2 could make a CGI version of Juggernaut, why couldn’t they make a CGI version of Apocalypse instead of making up Oscar Isaac in prosthetics?) Jennifer Lawrence should never have been cast in First Class, but they kept using her. She is window dressing / marketing gimmick.
