Default "Clue" Remake in the works, directed by Gore Verbinski

Quote:
Universal has attached Gore Verbinski to develop "Clue," a live-action murder mystery based on the Hasbro board game that he would direct.

Verbinski will produce through his U-based Blind Wink banner, along with Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir, who also have an overall deal at the studio.

Verbinski will next direct "Bioshock" for U.

"Clue" is one of the few board games to surpass $1 billion in sales, in more than 50 markets. It was developed in England by a retired legal clerk named Anthony Pratt during WWII and released in 1948.

A previous film version was released in 1985.
Variety has the full story.

Yeesh, seriously? The old one was brilliant, leave it alone!

First Monopoly, then Candyland, now a remake of Clue? Can't wait to see the live action version of Hungry Hungry Hippos...

They need not remake this! DONT FUQ W/ A CLASSIC!!! Ya cant replace Martin Mull,Eileen Brennan, the late Madeline Kahn,Michael McKean,Lesley Ann Warren,Chistopher Lloyd,Howard Hesseman, and the immortal Tim Curry!!! If they need to make a movie in these bad financial times, why not make "Monopoly" with Robin Williams as Pennybags!(that dude withe the mustache)

Probably because (as Hasbro still disgruntles) the original movie WASN'T about a board game--

(I mean, if they'd just told us it was going to be a loving homage to "Murder By Death", I'd have known what I was in for--
Problem is, when it opened back in 1985, they were pushing the "game" angle, and theaters passed out Clue game slips to the audience with movie tickets...What possible earthly use did they have for a Tim Curry comedy? I haven't a clue.
We liked what we got, but it just wasn't the board-game commercial Hasbro hoped.)

Paramount has a hi-def print available on PSNetwork--
And We Know What That Means, Don't We, Kiddies?

I'm fine with a re-make of anything. I love the original Clue (1985), and I'm sure I'd be happy with a remake too... I just try to remember that I enjoyed the original and remake of Ocean's 11, and hold out hope on remakes. We'll see.

I'm sure next we'll see "Cooties" and "Don't Break the Ice?"

Nooooooooooooo! I loved the first. Tim Curry was great in it. The only way I can picture a remake is with Tim Curry AND Eddie Izzard. Then I might consider it.

Agree that the first one is fantastic, but I would be interested in this remake.
