According to High-Definition review magazine, the U.K release has an English True HD 5.1 audio track.
The U.K version of the film is also slightly censored - http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classi...3?OpenDocument The home video version submitted to the BBFC, was passed without cuts, but is the censored U.K cinema version (cuts for animal cruelty are compulsory) |

It has a DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 track, and I believe its region free from what I am getting with my software... but as I don't have an A machine to test it on to get a real curate result, might pay to wait for other people who have it.

I am very very confused that the UK release by Momentum Pictures is a 25GB BD while the US version by Sony is a 50GB BD so is the UK BD is as good as the US version? Its dirt cheap at the moment so I want to avail this opportunity but I just need to know the justification between the two versions, how can a 25GB BD would be as good as a 50GB disc? Is there anyone here have seen both versions? or any site from where I can see the difference between both versions, if any? I am going to get it if the UK BD PQ is identical to US BD!!!!
Please reply, Thanks. |

It's possible you won't see the difference, however it's extremely unlikely that the UK disc is actually better or even equal. Not only is the average video bitrate on the UK disc in the lower end of the spectrum, but Sony employ some of the best compressionists around, and their encodes are generally as perfect as they can get. If you want to be sure to get the best possible version get the US release.

The UK Disc: Video codec: VC-1 Video resolution: 1080p Aspect ratio: 1.85:1 Original aspect ratio: 1.85:1 and according to this site. THE US disc has MPEG-4 AVC Video codec. The US Disc: Video codec: MPEG-4 AVC Video resolution: 1080p Aspect ratio: 1.85:1 Original aspect ratio: 1.85:1 Any ideas which encode is superior or not much of a difference ? I am also a big time lover of Sony's title but as I said its the price which is making all the confusion! |

I bought the UK version recently for a bargain £5. However I wish I knew about these differences with the Us version.
Would be interesting to see some comparison shots. |

I have only watched the intro so far. I thought it looked quite good but not jaw dropping. Perhaps I need to watch other scenes which features more colour!
I managed to find the specs for both releases and it looks like theres quite a big difference both on video and audio front! http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/m...l?movieid=4914 http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/m...ll?movieid=956 I'm not sure I would notice much difference since I only have a 40 inch screen. |

I popped it in for a spin tonight and watched a few different scenes. It does look good but I certainly would not but it in the 'amazing' group. But then I am not the greatest reviewer of transfers. The picture looks a little soft to me and not razor sharp as you would expect from this type of film. I'm finding it hard to tell if it is film grain or digital noise from compression.

I'm not sure the specs are conclusive. They are using different codecs so perhaps in reality the UK version doesn't look too bad in comparison.
What we really need are comparison shots. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to take screenshots. If someone can get the same screenshots from Cinemasquid that would help. |
