Well, I like the cast a lot, and the premise looks like it could end up being pretty fun and engaging. This definitely has potential.

I forgot to report back. It was a decent movie, but I didn't love it. The cast is great, but they didn't push the premise far enough. I hated the torture porn craze where it was movies of people tied to chairs, and even though there's not really torture, it has a lot of people tied to poles / chairs. It is pretty quirky and well-paced though.

Saw this tonight, I do have a couple issues with the film (such as the very last scene, when I think the one immediately before it would have been a better way to close the film and even had a seeming “final shot” in it), but it’s a lot of fun overall. Strong and committed cast and has a really nice blend of humor and suspense that helps it stand out (as it could have felt very similar to movies like Don’t Breathe and others if it was just played straight).

There was a nice Q+A after with the director’s and star Maika Monroe, where they pointed out others involved with the film in attendance and talked about the tone. Mentioned how in early drafts of the script there was a sci-fi twist but it started working much better when they focused in on character, that they wanted a style “north of reality, but south of farce”, and while it tips into horror elements they didn’t want to just do a horror movie as they wanted the audience to feel energized by the movie and not scared for days after (he specifically said the opposite of Hereditary).

It's supposedly Nationwide September 20th and I'm really hoping that's true. Really want to see this one.

I got the trailer today with the RPX showing of Pulp Fiction and it mentioned the film is “exclusively at Regal” so won’t be a huge theatrical release. Though it might be nationwide at various Regals on the 20th, even if clearly won’t have a theater count in the thousands.

I love seeing Kyra Sedgwick in a new film! I haven't seen her on the big screen since The Edge of Seventeen in 2016.
