Personally I'm waiting on the Fnac exclusive: 4K + 3D + 2D + Bonus disc, Steelbook, Slipcase, 10 posters, 4 artcards and 48-page booklet (in French).

HMV are still recovering from going into administration not too long ago, they're struggling to stay afloat. The logistics of supplying to international customers is probably more than they can handle at the moment, despite any financial benefits in the long term.

Well logistically there have never been overwhelming difficulties when it comes to delivering to other EU countries (Brexit ain't here yet), it's very facilitated.
As for non-EU countries, I'm sure that what you say would be their defense too; but they also had their reasons (read: excuses) for not doing international delivery for the many years before they went into admin... at the end of the day it's just poor management on repeat. Business requires long term thinking and investment, and that they continue even after their revival to choose to depend solely on UK consumers for an increasingly online market is suicidal IMO. Especially as they continue to invest in obtaining exclusivity rights on many editions. It's like HMV think they can pick up where they left off and it'll all be fine. If untapped international demand exists online, HMV continue to ignore it at their peril, especially as demand in the UK decreases...
Zavvi (on top of wrongly charging EU VAT on non-EU orders) increased delivery from £0.99 to £6.99 for Switzerland and other countries earlier this year (they could have ceased delivery to these locations instead, with the excuse of 'increased costs', but decided to risk passing these costs onto consumers); and sure enough I'm still ordering occasionally from them because they have exclusives ...

Anyway, for this thread, I'm just saying it's a shame that the business that has exclusivity rights on an English-friendly 3D steelbook in Europe doesn't deliver abroad, not even for an absurd shipping fee...

Well seeing as you know more than they do about how to run a business perhaps you contact their chief executive with all of your knowledge.

I know you're joking but I literally tried that with Zavvi. Literally. Formal correspondence by post and everything. As arrogant as it makes me sound, all I'll say is that it's genuinely shocking (well - in HMV's case, not so much now) how inept / uninformed / unmotivated the top echelons can be. It can trickle down throughout a business and usually repels investors. Anyway. Hopefully HMV can get it right this time by making serious changes.

Not surprising...these companies have no clue about overseas demand as they can’t see past the nose on their own faces....a return to administration would not be shocking.

It looks like the Amazon Germany version is getting a different art.

Yeah, featuring the Brandenburg Gate. Similar to how Italy's 3D Slip will feature the Rialto bridge. Chances are the UK artwork will feature Big Ben and London Bridge like the US edition.
It seems - based on this and previous releases (notably Spiderverse) - that Sony is really trying to make their releases (every aspect, from what appears onscreen, to artwork) as territory-specific as possible. Perhaps their research shows that editions sell better locally when this is done. Hopefully they won't go down the route of Warner and start giving every territory a different title, and making separate Steels for each territory with its local title on the artwork...

FYI, the US blu-ray and 4K editions do not have any expanded IMAX scenes. 2.39:1 throughout according to this site's reviews Chances are slim/none that Sony will make AR expansion exclusive to the 3D discs...

HMV now have the same fugly steelbook artwork as most other places. Shame it doesn't include the 4K disc too, I might have bitten if it did, but don't fancy paying an extra fiver just for that art.
I still wasn't convinced the UK was actually going to get the 3D version but it looks a dead cert now so I can stop hedging my bets and cancel the Aussie and German editions.
Wonder if Disney/Marvel put pressure on Sony to release the 3D to keep it in line with other MCU releases. Presumably they get a cut from the sales too. Would love to think it was consumer demand but I doubt it.

Looks like the Hong Kong 3D disc has the earliest release date (October 3), but it's unavailable for pre-order at all of the usual places (Yes Asia, Play Asia, and DDDHouse). Hopefully it will be available to order soon... I really don't want to wait until November to watch this in 3D.

As mentioned earlier in the thread there was a deadline date for HK pre-orders. It was last week. They were all active, even in Taiwan and Thailand. DDDHOUSE had a cutoff date of last Thursday. It was 240 HK$

Is this usually how Hong Kong pre-orders work? Do they typically come back in stock on release day?

I'm importing the AUS version from Sanity - they delivered quickly when I ordered How To Train Your Dragon 3. With the Australian release I don't have to worry about getting HD audio or about alternate languages on titles like Spider-Verse.

Isn’t that the case with HK & UK versions too?

The deadline was for the Taiwanese version, which is scheduled for a 10-18-19 release date.

The HK version is different and is released on 10-3-19.
