RE5 or biohazard as the Japanese call it will most likely sell many more ps3's especially in Japan than Yakuza so most likely we are looking at another good month for them out there. In the U.S. it will def help boost system sales but it might be on par with 360 since the Junkbox is getting their own special edition RE 360 why couldn't Sony release the special edition RE5 ps3 here in the states I need another PS3 for my bedroom!

PS3 is about to break the 3m barrier in Japan. And the whole SO4 vs RGG3 showed that PS3 has got double/triple the software selling power. We obviously need to see the second week sales for RGG3, but we know that SO4 sales are pitiful (179k in two weeks compared to SO3 which did 386,348 in its first week).

If history has taught us anything late ports don't sell as well as they should, look at the PS2 version of RE4, it didn't break the 500k barrier, while previous iterations of the series broke 1m in the first week except the first one (but that is to be expected) and that broke 1m sales total.

Making a big franchise exclusive to the losing console is always bad for franchise, SO, Tales, RE (4). Making a series exclusive to the winning console is fine, but multi-plat is the best situation if you have the internal bandwidth to do it.

I just don't get it.
Actually yes it does. We get a lessened version so that the two are equal. And it does matter which sells most, in this day and age, companies are looking for money, if they see one version out sells another, they focus on the higher system for the next game.

I dont think so to be honest. Most 360 only gamers only play Gears and Halo with some CoD here and there. RE5's gameplay isnt their style.

I could get used to these numbers, here's hoping the rest of the world follows Japan's lead.
Well gaming trends have always come from Japan in the last 20 years!

That's exactly why I'm confused with SE decision to back MS. I had a game conference last year in Sept and they honestly are kind of oblivous to what you are saying.

I've seen it first hand with the stores I run. If you release an exclusive to the worst installed base and then later release it on the leader....you lose a ton of sales. How much money did MS pay them exactly? I remember one of SE's sales sheets for their RPGs said MS was paying them a lot of marketing dollars but surely that can't make up for all the lost PS3 sales....could it?

I know it's not (entirely) Sony's fault because Microsoft shells out huge money to get these franchises and yes I understand it's a business and the developers need to make money, but it's like, where's the loyalty from the developers to Sony that allowed these franchises to THRIVE and make them what they are. Like, great , thanks Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto becomes the biggest selling franchise in gaming on PS2, so you thank your Sony players by giving exclusive DLC on 360.

It's a vicious cycle because the developers want to put their games on the system that will make money, but if ALL Sony's franchises had stayed exclusive (like the ones I stated above), this console generation would have been Playstation and Nintendo and everyone would laugh off the 360 the way the (misinformed) general public laughs off the PS3 now.

Sorry I have a headache and can't sleep... rant over. Hurray PS3
It actually started on the sega saturn but very quickly made its way to the playstation....fyi

Uh, yeah... pretty much. LOL! No, the 360 is not going anywhere, anytime soon.
Why is it important to see sales success on games? Because those of us who love and use the PS3 have seen the system struggle and flounder against the 360 in the games area. It needs success in sales of both games and consoles to compete with the 360 and keep developers writing games for it. Any news of success in that area is good news for people who love and use the PS3 for both games and blu-ray movies. But then you know that already don't you? Sure you do!
