So I'm going to try something...

This is going to be the Japanese sales thread, every Wednesday 2ch and Sinobi leak Enterbrain sales, on Thursdays we get the top 30 games from Media-Create, and on Fridays we get M-Create hardware sales and first day software sales from Sinobi.

Famitsu sales for games are accepted as the gold standard (M-C are actually the gold standard but it is hard to track totals as they only give figures for the top 10), and Media Create is the gold standard for hardware. Dengeki can be useful for total sales weekly totals tracking etc...

Interesting info, but would it be possible to start a thread on Japanese PS3 game reviews of sorts?

I'd be interested in seeing what Japanese game releases would be playable by non-fluent speakers and worth tracking down. Ditto for European releases as well.

Resident Evil 5 First day sales of Resident Evil 5 are in from Japan. The game sold four times as much on the PlayStation 3.

According to Ameblo.jp, Resident Evil 5 sold 278,000 on its first day in Japan. There's a very good chance the game could beat Yakuza 3's first week sales - the game sold 232,000 on its first day.

The split is significant, the PlayStation 3 sold 222,000 copies, with the Xbox 360 behind at 56,000.

Hopefully the anime lights a fire (or at least a candle) under this. I wouldn't expect huge sales with everybody playing either Yakuza 3 or Resident Evil 5, and it's probably pretty good for a budget re-release of a mediocre selling title, but I was hoping it'd do a little more. Of course, I'm greedy like that.

I still think they need to do a Sakura Taisen game with that engine/battle system.

Besides that, at the Playstation hardware numbers! And to think, in about a month, the Advent Children/FF13 demo will hit.

It's intresting that RE5 sold 4 times as much as the 360 version when the user base for the PS3 isn't 4 times as much. Is this a case where some PS3 owners have an X360 and choose to buy the PS3 version when there are multiplats?

This weeks sales go on to prove how stupid SE really is. Considering RPG's are super popular in Japan they could have sold over 600K (given the 4x of RE5 for an established franchise) first week on SO4 if it was released on the PS3.

Guess they really don't like money
