Default Blu-Ray DVD?

I don't know if this has been discussed before but...

Does it bug any one when they hear "BLU-RAY DVD"? Its not just people its companies advertizing things as "BLU-RAY DVD" I just think that this will confuse the tech-challenged people even more. It doesn't bug me THAT much but just feels like its wrong even though Blu-rays are "Digital Video Discs"

Its because the term Blu-ray hasn't caught on with many people yet. Most people I say "blu ray" to that have no knowledge of internet forums and such just think i'm talking tech talk. They have no idea its just a movie disc in HD. Then you get asked "what is HD?", then you explain that. Then you get "What is the difference?", then you explain its higher resolution, clearer picture etc.

Then you get "What is the difference?" again. Then you explain a whole lot more. Eventually you end up just saying "its just better right".

Like my mom has watched 20 blu rays and she just see's better colours. So she goes off and tells friends A B and C about all these amazing colours. Because in her mind thats what she see's.

Conclusion : People are confused and unless they are introduced with a practical demonstration, blu ray is just another tech term that means absolutely nothing to them.

It annoys me alot! I don't get why people call it a "Blu-ray DVD" just like how people are calling "Watchmen", "The Watchmen".

I remember when DVD was known as Digital Video Disc, then as Digital Versatile Disc, so really, Blu-Ray could come under Blu-ray DVD, as it does carry Digital Video on a disc, also, it helps some people to remember Blu-ray as a disc format, and not some sort of laser gun. I would prefer myself just Blu-ray, to get away from the HD-DVD name.
