What's this guy using for his/her audio system? On a side note, should i get these equipments seperately to get better quality? I've only willing to spend 3000 max to spend on equipment. I'm a complete newbie too. Things i'll need/want. amplifier subwoofer front and left speaker centre pair of surround speakers receiver.. Basically, the whole thing =/ I've heard if you buy from the same company, it usually "syncs" better to make it more smooth for audio. Is this true? |

Don't choose speakers primarily for their looks. make sure they sound good to you. Therefore, audition them before you buy. Also bring your own music and movies that you are familiar with so you can do an honest audition.

![]() Not sure if it's of any help, but I'm thinking those are all from the Polk Monitor series (old logo). They look like: Towers (R/L) Monitor 70s Surrounds Monitor 40s Rear Suround Monitor 30s Center CS1 or CS2 Receiver looks like an Onkyo TX-SR806 |

Buy yourself this Marantz Receiver. These Dynaudio Excite X16s and the Dynaudio Excite X22 C Total will be $2600 ish, once you get a nice 20% discount. Then add a sub for your setup Hsu STF-2 Total is about to $2940 Then for surrounds throw a pair of these up for $79 Jamo C 401 Dont worry about the surrounds being the same brand or not, eventually you could get the Dyn DM 2/6 or something, but for now these would work just great. And just for your review, check out this review of the smaller Dynaudio X12s, I will say you need to audition them, but once you hear them, you won't want anything else. From the Review Quote:

You could also go with something like these
Focal 706V $650/pr x2 =$1300 Focal CC 700V center channel $500 Subwoofer Hsu STF-2 $350 Receiver Marantz 6003 $649 You could put the last $200 into the speaker stands to match your speakers. Again better then most setups that you will see traditionally. |

What do I know though, I have Polks! lol But hey, I only spent ~$350 on all of my speakers so... It's honestly just a question though, I'm just curious how they hold up compared to towers. |

In the review of the smaller X12, it has a 5.7" driver, the X16 has a 7" driver, but the reviewer says that the Imaging, Bass and transpariency of the system goes beyond what he felt a Bookshelf(monitor) speaker could provide. He had the X12 set up as a 2.0 system and thought he had a subwoofer with it, but didn't Quote:

you can find higy quality bookshelves for the price of budget tower speakers. in my opinion, the higher quality bookshelves are the better option if you're going to be using a sub. to me it's hard to justify towers if they're being crossed over at 80hz. if you have the $$$ for high quality towers, then i'm sure they would probably outperform a bookshelf. but if we're talking under $500 for a pair of speakers, give me bookshelves over towers any day for sound quality... to the OP, definitely check out psb, energy, axiom, paradigm, aperion, hsu research(i think they have a pretty good sale going right now for a 3.1 system w/ an stf-2), and +1 on the recommendation of the stf-2 sub, very good for the $$$... |
