I think Universal is going to release a U.S. version sooner than later.

Hello,

Please be a bit more respectful toward the review that has been posted - apparently Amazon.com removed the listing for the import version of In Bruges from their database.

To those who PM-ed with requests for more information, you could order the Danish, Region-Free, Blu-ray disc of In Bruges here (it is in stock):

http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/searc...bruges&x=0&y=0

Direct link to the Blu-ray disc:
http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/visva...11466331023205

(the Danish vendor has a temp cover, not the BD one, but this is the correct listing).

Pro-B

I wouldn't classify it as a comedy, but it was definitely one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. It's more of a drama with tons of humor in it.

I think it is a decent movie with a touch of comedy. Too many people over-hyped it though and my expectations were too high before I watched it.

It wasn't a comedy. There is nothing funny (or even amusing) on this movie. Wouldn't pay 40 cents for it.

I wouldn't go that far. I found several scenes very funny, especially the ones about Americans. I don't think whether or not people found this movie funny has to do with their culture. This movie was a nice surprise though.

No question this was under hyped IMO. It had 79% on Rotten Tomatoes before I watched it and I couldn't believe it was this low.

I guess some people didn't get the importance of character development in this movie and how emotional it made the ending.

You should see a doctor, I think your funny bone is broken, perhaps even missing.

Is one of the best screenplay of 2008 for me.

The dialogues are amazing.

Here's a source for the Scanbox Entertainment version of In Bruges that I reviewed:

http://www.discshop.se/shop/ds_produ...=movies&&ref=#

The price, including shipping, to the US, is approximately $30. Not too shabby!

Sorry for the link problem with Amazon. We're still trying to determine why they stopped carrying the film.

Thanks for that link Ben! Two questions though, the link has bonus materials listed and your review doesn't acknowledge any on the disc. Does this BD have bonus materials or no? The other thing is... I don't understand the language on the website haha. Can you order from the site using an American card? And if he yes, how?

yes you can use an American credit card. You might consider using google site translator to see if that helps with your ability to read the site.

Since I viewed the film on a Region A player, the PAL special features weren't compatible. If you are also using a region A player, you'll encounter the same thing. However, for such a fantastic movie, that's not really much of a loss.

BTW, this is the actual cover art on the final release:

Fantastic, thanks for the help again! Now the question is do I pull the trigger for the BD upgrade now, or live with the regular DVD and take my chances on an official US release and wait for that. I did ABSOLUTELY LOVE this movie...

I'd say pull the trigger... it's a great transfer of an awesome movie.

I may have to, I think it's the only movie I've bought on DVD since I got PS3 at launch.

Universal, the domestic studio with distribution rights in the U.S., asked Amazon to specifically stop carrying the import Blu-ray for sale. While Amazon could have continued selling it, making enemies with one of the largest studios would not have been a wise move, so they pulled the BD from the site. It is assumed that Universal has plans to release a Blu-ray version of their own at some point this year.

Yes, but as far as my information goes, the australian release is only 1080i. I've read this in several forums (avsforum.com, avforums.com and I think even here at blu-ray.com). So I think, the stated 1080p in your review is wrong. Maybe you could check this for us? The disc may look good anyway of course, but I think I'll just wait for a proper US release...

EDIT: Here's the avs link http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...ighlight=1080i, that lists "In Bruges" Australia as 1080i/50.

I didn't review the Australian release. I reviewed the Swedish release which is most definitely 1080p.

You are correct, however, that the Australian release is 1080i
