Default What is the best release of From Dusk Till Dawn (that can play on a Region A Player).

Hey, so I've been wondering which version of From Dusk Till Dawn is the best and need some help. The ones I've been looking at is the Canadian steelbook from Alliance (though the audio drop issue kind of kills that release) and the South Korea Blu-ray from Green Narae Media (as it has Full Tilt Boogie) though the Korea Blu seems to be ultra hard to find. Can anyone please be a big help and try to help me find the best Region A compatible release.

Thanks for trying to help, but I need more in-depth comparisons of just the region A compatible discs.

I have the Japanese disc that was released by WB. It looked best out of the US and Canadian discs that I previously owned. It looks like all of the Miramax/Dimension titles released in Japan by WB are all out of print now.

Did it have extras(if so, did it have a lot)? What would you say is the best 'in print' release?

I'd honestly say to wait on this one. There were rumors of it getting a remaster, and it's a popular genre movie which means it should happen eventually.

Yeah, but that may not be until the next big anniversary (which is the 25th in 2021) and Lionsgate could make it 4K exclusive like with American Psycho.

Miramax has the elements and well, they promised a 20th anniversary edition that never materialized. Juliette Lewis evidently participated in the newly created features. Its up to Miramax to make or provide the elements for new masters.

Lionsgate just has distribution but Miramax still owns the properties and can cancel the deal anytime. Miramax did that to Echo Bridge and then eventually, moved the titles previously handled by EB to Lionsgate for distribution.

Well, then let's hope a new release comes sooner than later. Honestly, it at least should've been this year to at least connect to Rodriguez's new movie coming this December.

Well hopefully you'll be upgraded to 4k by 2021.

@CrazyBlu-RayFan
Man, I wish you weren't region locked. The Italian release is gorgeous.

Lost count of how many times I've bought this damn movie.

Erm, I guess that 20th Anniversary Blu-ray is never coming out any time soon huh? Lol.

Cause I'm wondering if I should just wait for it to come out or if I should just go and ahead and buy the regular Blu-ray from Amazon along with the DVD "Dimension Collector's Series" version to get the extras from that disc for a total of $16.

I would say to get the Canadian steelbook as it has all the dvd extras. The currency exchange is in your favor, should be around $25 from amazon.ca. I had that dvd for so long before finally getting the steel in 2018. Then you can watch the commentary on a good looking print, you'd have to sync up the US version or deal with the old non-anamorphic dvd transfer if staying US.

Is this the one you are referring to? And if so, does it include the special feature "Full Tilt Boogie"? And is it true that the picture quality on this release is better than the standard Blu-ray version?

https://www.amazon.com/Dusk-Till-Daw.../dp/B017ABAHNG

(BTW, the one on Amazon.ca won't deliver to my address unfortunately, but I did find one that looks just like the package from Amazon.ca in the above link from the US Amazon site.)

The Canadian steelbook has an audio dropout.

So between these two releases:

The Lionsgate 2014 one (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/From-...lu-ray/109164/) which is 1.85:1

and

The Echo Bridge 2011 one (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/From-...Blu-ray/20901/) which is 1.78:1

Which one has the better picture quality? I've heard that the Echo Bridge one has awful PQ, but is the Lionsgate one any better?

Just go to pawnshops. I found the Region A one from EB and the 2 disc dvd set for a whopping $3 for both (not at the same store).

Not sure why people don't seem to shop for movies at pawnshops more. You'll almost never find something from the likes of Scream Factory or Arrow, but for more mainstream wider releases, the pawnshops get flooded. Ive gotten new releases (as of a month or 2, sometimes same day or week) for as little as a couple dollars. Sometimes virtually brand new, or even brand new sold as "used". Usually from junkies selling stolen goods to support their drug habit. Thrift shops can help too, but I seem to score more with games at those than movies.

Hope the so called new bad ass release of this comes out eventually. Hate being at the mercy of fascist big studio douchebags that hoard their catalog to leave it to rot and never see the light of day again in a decent transfer and format.
