I may have to miss this one as I will try and see A Hidden Life on Tuesday and don't know if I want to pay to go to the movies twice in a week. I've done it before but not sure I want to do it this time. My mom has seen it and really liked it and she wants me to make sure I get to the theater to see it so we'll see

Knives Out,” the acclaimed whodunit from director Rian Johnson, hit a notable box office milestone this weekend, crossing $100 million in the U.S. and $200 million worldwide. It’s another triumph for original content — a form of entertainment once thought to be imperiled by the ubiquity of franchise fare.

I was bored and went to see Knives Out, even though I had told myself to never watch anything by Rian Johnson ever again.

What can I say I quite liked it, only thing that annoyed me was the fake southern accent by Daniel Craig, all in all very good movie.

I liked it, although I knew who was responsible half way through the film. Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas were great though.

His style didn't suit Star Wars for me, too many jokes to distract from the moments intended to be taken seriously, here though it was perfect for this style of film. I agree though Craig's accent was a bit much even if that was kind of the point, this being a send up of sort of Murder on the Orient Express type mystery right down to the eccentric genius detective.

A brilliant thriller from the nose tip to the toes. Had a great time. The cast was excellent, particularly, Ana de Armas, Craig and Shannon. The cinematography was top tier. I was pleasantly surprised by that subtle film grain and artificially induced gate weave on a predominantly digitally shot movie. It was almost film-like, but not fully there.

this movie is great. i don’t know that this would have made my top ten of 2019, but this might be one of the best mysteries in recent years.

Johnson could be on the gravy train for life if he can keep on cranking out murder mystery thrillers starring his new detective Benoit Blanc. Here is to more of them, as the film was superb.

On a side-note, i have no idea how good or bad Craig's Kentucky accent was, though i'd love to know from people who are familiar with th area if it was hit or miss. Nothing worse than a foreign actor trying to nail a non-native accent and missing by a mile...

He will, a sequel is already in talks. This could be his Poirot series (I have not seen this so I have no idea if it's a legit comparison).

Finally saw this in the theaters last night. It was quite enjoyable, and I loved that they played The Rolling Stone's "Sweet Virginia" as the credits rolled. It reminded of the ending of the film Rushmore, when they played Faces "Ooh La La", as the credits rolled.

The only thing that bugged me was Daniel Craig's fake southern accent. Why not just have him be a Brit who now lives in the states? I didn't see the reason for the accent, especially since it appeared the story took place in the Northeastern section of the US

Johnason wanted to do an Americanized version of a typical British whodunit, so having him speak with a British accent would have defeated that. I think most people enjoyed his exaggerated accent, and found it to fit the tone of the film. The reception he received is the main reason that fans, and Craig himself, wants to see another film revolving around his character.

You are in for a real treat...as long as you don't psych yourself up TOO much. It's hard not to do and I'm definitely guilty of it.

You know what? Forget I said that. It's a great film and you'll have a blast watching it. The cast is a dream come true.

Yeah, I'm so into this cast. I a very big fan of practically everyone in this thing! And honestly, I'll watch pretty much anything starring Daniel Craig.

I loved it. I don't think I would have enjoyed the movie quite as much if he had decided to go a different way with his character.

Exactly ONE 35mm print of Knives Out exists, I own it, and this is the first time I’m screening it! LA’ers c’mon down and let’s see enjoy those reel changes together.

You know, I didn't think about it until that post, but Johnson should have made this on real film. I feel like that's more fitting for the tone of the film, and its classic whodunit heritage than going with digital.

Reading up on it, it seems it wasn't Johnson's choice, and they shot one scene with 35mm for his birthday to sort of comfort him over losing the opportunity to use film.
