Default The Silver Lining to the Paramount mistake

Hey,

I found the upside to the lapse of reason at Paramount,... with thier titles being pushed back 18 months I'll be able to get more of other upcomong things I want like Cars and the Spiderman trilogy.

I can pick up the Paramounts in time once they come to thier senses.

plus blu will still get speilberg titles and i think this could be a good thing if you have two major studios supporting hd and hd is still getting their butts kicked it'll prove that people like blu ray more not to mention that it's only for 18 months and prices on the movies inevitably go down, so when paramount does finally wake up and the 18 months are up we'll get their movies for under 20 maybe and that would be worth waiting for.

I simply won't do business with Paramount of Viacom anymore. They lie, cheat and steal as do all American Corporations, but the big problem is they are too stupid to cover their tracks. This has become a marketing nightmare for them, because they were too short sighted to see what the long-term impacts would be. Added to all this, I think both camps should do something about studios now jumping to exclusivity, not for any sound technical or business reasons, but because they were bought off. What HD-DVD and BDA should do is charge some sort of entrance fee, a fee that makes going exclusive expensive. Once your in one camp or the other or BOTH and decide you will go exclusive with the opposition, this is fine, but if you want to "rejoin" later, you pay the HD-DVD or BDA camps a 50 million dollar fee to rejoin. That should stop this silly jumping around as Paramount has now done twice.

maybe in these 18 mos where Paramount wallows in the stench of their mistake, they will be working on blu-ray titles to be released in 18 mos. Who knows, They could PACK them with features, spend more time on remastering titles and all in all, provide a better release!

Call me optimistic, but this could work out in our favor.

Perhaps, but there's no guarantee that Paramount and DreamWorks will ever support Blu-ray again. This might be what pushes HD DVD into the stratosphere this holiday season.

Exactly, and since their titles aren't really that compelling anyways...who cares?

Once your clear transformers paramount really has nothing aside from catalogue titles. Its funny how Bay got pissed...I wonder how much of him getting pissed was 'support' for blu-ray and how much was ego. Think about it for a minute...if Spielberg gets to choose why shouldn't Bay? Sure he's not as big a name as spielberg but his films are consistant in terms of making money and he's pretty well known. Maybe they bruised his ego by not consulting him about his movies and he got pissed...

It think that he is completely in the right. They screwed him over and all the other directors that work for Paramount.

You do know that Viacom owns Blockbuster Video who supports Blu Ray, should we stop renting Blu Ray titles from Blockbuster now ?

Viacom used to own Blockbuster until it was spun off as a separate company in 2004/5
