True, but its “Owner” because you own the resort (or possibly the island), NOT the girls. The English translation is usually “boss” although the voiceover still says “owner-San.”
The game is totally sexist though, no argument there, but not every “owner” playing this game is male FYI. There are some sugar mamas playing dress up with their stable of...I mean their resort full of guests. I should really stop playing this during breaks, my coworkers all think I’m some dirty old man |

That said, yes there's possibly women that also play the game but being called "Boss" or "Owner" still frames it a little weird for me. I would have tried to just maybe have a more neutral moniker i guess but the context of resort ownership and what you get up to almost has two meanings in one on how i saw it. That said, clearly the intended audience don't mind and carry on if you must sir. You're too old to care about what those young whipper snappers in the workplace think ![]() |

I used to bring my 3DS to work and play on break/lunch but I kept getting interrupted. Since this game basically plays itself, its less frustrating to just turn off the iPad screen if someone needs something.
Anyway, I am still curious about the character that will crossover to DOA6. Is it in the just released season pass? |

Looks like my wish is coming true this week. The Beautiful Mandarin costumes will be brought back as this week's Revival costume entry. That's my favourite costume set in the history of the game, so I am really happy about this.
Apparently the latest update will alter the jiggle physics as well, but I don't have any details as to how. Hopefully it brings back more options so that players can select a full range of motion from "mounds of concrete" to "life of their own". |

![]() ![]() According to the dataminers, the Venus crossover character will be Tamaki. Speculation on her fighting style is that it will be lucadore inspired (like Mariposa?). Last edited by Bolo Seagull; 02-13-2020 at 11:39 AM. |

![]() During the DOAX live broadcast they showed off the DOA6 Atelier Ryza and Gust collabo costumes, followed by Tamaki in her Linarite Prism SSR walking on the DOA6 Seaside Eden stage. They didn’t show any fighting though, that will probably come from a Team Ninja announcement. It’s at 53:55 in case the time stamp above didn’t work. *Update* Twitter announcement Last edited by heyadol; 02-25-2020 at 07:12 PM. |

This game is receiving more attention than ever, and not positive. They've implemented a system where you have to pay $1 every time you change a character's hair colour. I'm playing this game on Xbox, and this option is not available on this system but I wouldn't pay it even if I could.
This microtransaction approach brought media outlets that don't normally pay much attention to DOA into criticizing Koei Tecmo's greed. Some of whom are convinced that the wave of negative reactions to this move will force KT to respond and make amends. I doubt it. They'll probably just shake it off and keep the DLC coming. I'll admit, the pettiness of this hair colour feature astounds me and I think they've really damaged their brand. It's weird, when they were ramping up to the release of DOA6, they were trying to tone down their image as a peddler of kitschy fan service and transition into a respected tournament fighter. Now they're only getting a reputation for cheap business practices. I personally don't get too upset. I enjoy the game and I'm not forced to buy DLC I don't want. Well there was a lot of greed with DOA5 but the game still turned out pretty well. But DOA6 is pure greed and mediocre in comparison to 5. Like if they kept the same amount of greed while making the game just as good as 5 I wouldn’t have any complaints.

The whole list of DLC on Steam for DOA 5 is $1,200+US
The whole list of DLC on Steam for DOA 6 is closing in on $2,000 US I know that accounts for duplicate items. I haven’t bought anything beyond Season Pass 1 & that was a mistake looking back at it. The hair thing though.. That’s just silly. The next DLC will charge you $1 per input on your controller. ![]() |

Shall we be honest, Dead or Alive 5 & 6 are probably the most unprecedented MTX cash grabs we've ever seen pulled in a fighting game to date. I know people will cite EA and FIFA packs etc. which is also a valid example of greed, but i honestly feel like there used to be a line and these sort of games are a million miles over and away from that.
It's genuinely astounding that you can't buy a game in "Ultimate" or GOTY edition with almost all the DLC. Shelling out circs $100+ seemed ludicrous to me. Never mind $1k+ ![]() That "Hair dye" option is particularly egregious imo. It's a game, not real life. |

Seems like something that should be unlocked w/ in game currency. Ultimately I don’t care how much they charge for cosmetics, if people are willing to pay for mandarin dresses and pink hair then let them pay.
The only thing I’m willing to pay for is new characters, which makes me not want to buy any of them since they are mostly back-filling characters they left behind. I might buy when a season pass gets discounted, but I’m an Xbox player so that’s pretty rare. I suppose I will have to wait until next year when they release it (w/ most DLC included) for next-gen platforms. |

I'm sure an ultimate edition will come out with at least all the DLC characters and some of the costume DLC. And that will be a better deal for people who didn't buy any of it.
But it also won't surprise me if they abandon this game fairly quickly and start ramping up to DOA7 for the next gen. And in DOA7, they'll expect everybody to buy the same content again for the third time. |

Well hopefully PS5/XSX will be at least as strong as a Dreamcast so the next DOA can bring back multi-tiered stages like Aerial Gardens and Dragon Hills. A better story mode would be nice as well, and i would say it’s time for DOA to get a character creator but TN/KT would probably want to monetize it and that would just circle us back to the cost of fully enjoying this game.
