I’ve owned an XBox for years but decided to go ahead and purchase a PS4 now...mainly to finally play The Last of Us Remastered. I love zombie and post-apocalyptic type of games. That’s what I’m looking for on my new PS4.
Having only been an XBox gamer for years, I really haven’t followed PS4 games. Besides The Last of Us... can anyone kindly recommend some PS4 games that are worth buying that deal with post-apocalyptic or zombie type of storylines? Thanks very much as a new PS4 gamer! |

Welcome to Playstation Glenn! If you did not play it on Xbox already, Resident Evil 2 is probably my favorite as far as zombie games go. I think it's around 10 hours or so and more survival horror than full on apocalyptic, but really creepy and well done. If you enjoy it too, Resident Evil 3 comes out in April.

There's some great titles out there. For zombie games, easily recommend Resident Evil Zero which is the HD remake of the PS1 game. Resident Evil 2 remake and tbh, i hear Resident Evil 4 was great and there's a remastered version on PS4. Usually they have a sale on for the remastered Resident Evil games as a bundle too. Post apocalypse wise The Last of Us is great but Mad Max is really solid imo. Definitely worth a try and Horizon Zero Dawn is Sci Fi based and amazing. Also you might be interested in Death Stranding. Days Gone as its reduced. There's also Resident Evil 7 for first person zombie stuff. Probably a ton more i haven't managed to name that others probably will. I think actually naybe Borderlands might be worth a look. Kinda have a Mad Max vibe. |

I think anyone new to the Playstation ecosystem owes it to themselves to experience the classics: God of War, Uncharted:The Nathan Drake Collection & The Lost Legacy, The Last Guardian are all must-play titles. I’ve yet to play Spiderman but it’s also supposed to be excellent. There’s other classics such as Ratchet & Clank, Tearaway Unfolded, Ni No Kuni that offer a break from the norm. You might also want to think about investing in Playstation Plus. This month you’ll get the chance to play Shadow of the Colossus which is definitely worth a punt. This. I'd put it at the top of my list, but since The Last of Us is already there, then this should be 2nd. Also, welcome.
![]() While I'm not as big of a fan of them as most are, the recommended Resident Evil games make sense as well, especially the Resident Evil 2 remake and the upcoming remake of 3. |

I just finished Days Gone and the bugs weren't very serious at all. One of the few games I wasn't sick of after completing the platinum.
The Last of Us is an obvious pick - one of the best story driven games ever and it fits your niche. The Uncharted franchise is by the same producer and the stories/characters are even better IMHO, but it's not post-apocalyptic. There are zombies in the first game though, and all but the last have a supernatural/horror component. Also, each takes place in third world countries, in the search for lost civilizations, so post apocalyptic isn't much of a stretch. Horizon Zero Dawn is and excellent, open world adventure game set in the far off future. It's not a playstation exclusive, but Far Cry New Dawn is another open world post apocalypse shooter worth playing. Though, it's really just a smaller scale, continuation of Far Cry 5 using some of the same, redecorated maps. You don't need to play 5 first, but it is ultimately the bigger/better game. |

Maybe they just love that genre and are just focusing on it as a newcomer? It's a lot to take in as a newbie if we recommend all the best genres the platform has to offer.

'Horizon Zero Dawn' & 'Death Stranding', both solid PS4 titles (also both coming to PC this year). The two are different takes on the post-Apocalypse genre, but share the same game engine (Decima). Not a slight, far from it, allows for some very beautiful visuals and I'm sure will scale well into the next gen.

I want to mention Nier Automata, but then you'll have to do a lore dig and get a PS3 for Nier and Drakengard 3, then get a PS2 for Drakengard 1-2.
Kind of a mind **** when you see why it matters. I think you can still play multi with Dead Island if you like beating up zombies with friends. |
