Default Mafia II PS4 Remake

The game is rumored to be in the works and is suppose to be getting overhauled with the Mafia III and in development Mafia IV game engine. Also they are saying FREE roam mode will be added.

Quote:
Rumours of a Mafia franchise revival have been doing the rounds for more than six months now following the mixed reception of Mafia III, and that game's predecessor appears to be playing a large part in those supposed plans. Alongside a reboot, Mafia II looks like it's coming to PlayStation 4 in the form of a remaster named Mafia II: Definitive Edition.

Picked up by Gematsu, the release in question has been rated by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea for unknown platforms. We have to assume that the PS4 will be one of the consoles the definitive edition launches on, meaning we could be returning to the streets of 1940s' Empire Bay before too long. Mafia II received three pieces of DLC after its launch in August 2010 for PlayStation 3, so we reckon this remaster will package those together alongside the base game with some graphical enhancements.

Game was kinda fun (Mafia 3) but it definitely needed better assets. A lot of the open world felt like roaming around in a PS3 game. If they manage to modernize the games to current standards, I’ll be interested for sure. Those PS2 looking cars on the road in M3 though..

Hopefully this is true. I really liked Mafia 2, Mafia 3 not so much.

That would be awesome. Still got the collector's edition of the original game. Loved the story and the music (and there was soooooo much of it).

But it would be nice if they updated Mafia II's gameplay a little. And PLEASE make gasoline last a little longer. Cars were out of juice so quickly in this game, it was ridiculous.

Now I wish EA remastered The Saboteur...yeah, right. Like that's gonna happen

I found the Mafia 3 a really disappointingly missed opportunity tbh after GTA v did a narrative driven open world, Mafia 3 had all these shoddy floaty mechanics and imo, it's made the gams a lot cheaper looking and if they overhauled the mechanics, that could be the best thing for the game.

I say this as a person who bought it at launch full price based on marketing thinking i was getting something akin to GTA V in terms of feel. Especially makes it worse when you think GTA V released on PS3 with better mechanics and then got remastered. Also considering the R* shared heritage you'd think they would have had access to see how to do it better or get help on the mechanics. GTA IV had really crappy feeling mechanics and i'm so grateful GTA V corrected that.

they should remaster the original game Mafia Lost Heaven

and fix the glitches from the Freeride Extreme mode which makes one mission impossible

That’s what I don’t understand about 2K when it came to Mafia 3. They own one of the best studios that’s good a open world games yet they didn’t bring them in on it. Rockstar could have made Mafia 3 great. Plus the story sucked. We should have been playing as a member of the Mafia the game is called Mafia. Yet we had to play as someone who wasn’t even in the Mafia.

I also bought and played Mafia III at launch and had the season pass DLC which I never got around to playing. My biggest issue with Mafia III was how bad the graphics were in the game. I mean the graphics especially when driving around the world looked like last gen PS3 graphics.

I think the game turned out bad because the developer Hangar 13 and game director Haden Blackman previous experience was a PS Vita game and no experience with open world games.

Funniest part in the game was this:

I really enjoyed Mafia 2 but the PS3 version was terrible in terms of graphics, not even being able to produce the sprouted green grass stalks on the ground, resulting in a flat ground of green, unlike the 360 version which had the ability. And the resolution was weak too. Otherwise, a great, fun game.

Mafia 3, despite its graphical issues, I really enjoyed for some reason as it reminded me of a Driver game probably.

I'd like to see Mafia 2 given a complete graphical overhaul so it looks appropriate for a PS5 game. Why they'd spend all that time remaking an old game instead of a new one, I guess to save some time and having an already built in fanbase.

I will say this, for a game based on a license of a Gangster movie, i was thinking it would be a bit of a flop but t was genuinely an amazing game. Tbh, the Scarface game wasn't exactly bad either and was quite decent for the time.

The problem is that in a post-GTA V world you have to really raise your game because that's set a standard for these games alongside Red Dead Redemption 2. You can't really get away with having shoddy mechanics and narrative anymore imo.

Exclusively on PS4 the Playboy magazines will be replaced by Better Homes & Gardens magazines.

I've never gotten to play Mafia 2 but still really want to. I found 3 dull, boring and the controls were sluggish.
I ADORE The Godfather game for many reasons and it's control scheme was arguably the best I've experienced on a console. It's an incredible game for the time and built off of EA's work on Everything or Nothing+FRWL. The ps2 version is still my favorite though the ps3 edition is solid.

Mafia 2 is worth playing. It’s worth waiting for it to come out on current gen to play it. Godfather 2 was my favorite Mafia game to bad we didn’t get a Godfather 3.

Sony has censored some sexual/suggestive content for several games released on their system, which I assume is what he's referring too.

Mafia 3 was such a missed opportunity. The story was great, but the game was unfinished. They should have given them more time, and the Mafia franchise might have elevated it self to being a top franchise.

Yeah it was a Sony censorship joke.... Well half joke since I really do think that the magazines could be stripped from the game. Jill Valentine can't even wear a skirt anymore with how overboard they are going. What was wrong with ratings existing for a reason?
