Question why is bit rate higher?

You would think the audio bit rate would be higher on blu-ray why not?

Supports data rates as high as 6 Mbps.
Bit rate performance of at least 3 Mbps on HD DVD and up to 1.7 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc.

I think this was a mistake (on the DD TruHD chart as well). If not, all I can think of is that they based it on the MPEG-2/25GB discs (where the MPEG2 codec soaked up most of the available space). If that's the case, they should have adjusted the other values as well.

I sent Dolby a message asking why. If they respond, I'll let you know what they say.
