Sounds pretty intense, but understandably so. Do you think this is a good move for Marvel, to use repeat writers on their comic book movies? I guess the work quality and reputation of the writer will be a major factor. |

Good for Marvel, not so good for an independent writer who knows what they're talking about.
If, they were to perhaps USE the writers outside of Marvel but have the Marvel writers have final approval then yes it'd be awesome. Logan |

I can see both good and bad in this. The good, that MARVEL will be able to control what they write and will probably pull from the source material more often, which will diminish the chance of certain inaccuracies from MARVEL movies. The bad, the writers material might get a little stale after a while. MARVEL will have to keep replenishing the stock. Plus, independent writers lose out big time.

If "ownership" means that the scripts cannot be sold by the writer as his own AND that Marvel still pays the writer royalties for what comes out of the scripts, I think it's a good idea. If it's about paying a monthly paycheck, not so much.
The FLLR deal is a bit forceful since Marvel is all about comics and the writer may not write any future scripts that are comic-book like. fuad |

I've always wondered why they didn't use the writers of the comics more. This way they would get people that already know and understand the characters and what kind of situations they would be best in. This way you don't get completely neutered characters, and huge age disparities in them. Yes, I am looking at you X-Men for what you did to Rogue and the rest of the X-kiddies.

1) writing a comic and a movie are totally different 2) you want to go beyond the comic, you want to entice all the population and not limit yourself to a market which is as small as the comic reader for that particular hero. You want someone that does not know all the ins and outs because he will be better at showing them in the movie. |
