There are many classic Bible based movies I would love to see get a 16K or 8K scan of the original film negative and released on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format with Dolby Vision HDR and with either a 11.1 DTS X or 11.1 Dolby Atmos soundtrack (or for older movies at least a new 5.1 master and sometimes a 1.0 master).
Here is just a small amount of titles I would be interested in being released on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. Passion of the Christ (2004) Jesus of Nazareth (1977) The Jesus Film (1979) The Bible Stories Collection (1993-2000) 1080P link https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-B...lu-ray/161673/ The Ten Commandments (1923) The Ten Commandments (1956) The Ten Commandments (2006) Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ 1925 version Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ 1959 version Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ 2016 version Sodom and Gomorrah (1962) The Bible: In the Beginning (1966) The Robe (1953) Demetrius and the Gladiators (1954) Samson and Delilah (1949) One Night with the King (2006) There are many other faith based classic Bible movies that I can think of that would look good on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. Yeah, I'd buy most of those. I think THE ROBE may already have a 4K master.

I agree! 110% I would buy all of those on the 4K disc as well.
In fact, I actually have been actively looking for Bible and Christian movies to buy on 4k. So far I have only been able to find Risen (2016) and Breakthrough (2019), of which I did purchase both. I found this thread even, simply searching the internet, for information on any more Christian and Bible movies available on 4k disc. To add to your list, I would also request many: The Book of Daniel (2013) King David (1985) Amazing Love (2012) [story of Hosea] The Chosen season 1 (2017) The Apocalypse (2000) The Nativity Story (2006) The Gospel of John (2014) <Netflix series> The Gospel of Matthew (2014) <Netflix series> The Gospel of Luke (2015) <Netflix series> The Gospel of Mark (2015) <Netflix series> A.D. The Bible Continues (2015) Do You Believe (2015) Superbook (2011-2021) <all 5 seasons> [animated series] Cosmic Conflict: The Origin of Evil (2009) <short> God’s Not Dead (2014) God’s Not Dead 2 (2016) God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness (2018) The Story of Ruth (1960) Peter and Paul (1981) Left Behind: The Movie (2000) Left Behind 2: Tribulation Force (2002) Left Behind 3: World at War (2005) If anyone knows of any Bible and Christian movies on 4k please post because I am searching! If anyone can make it happen to release these wonderful and beautiful and clean movies on 4k disc — please make it happen! |

Mel Gibson is reportedly making a sequel, to The Passion of The Christ, which is set to take place during the 40 days after His crucifixion, where Jesus spent those days among the people and his disciples, where over 500 witnesses saw Him and interacted with Him before His ascension.
HOPEFULLY, Mel Gibson films and releases this film in 4k Imax and releases it on 4k UHD as well. And hopefully upon that 4k UHD release, Mel Gibson can manage some pull to get the original 2004 film remastered and released on 4k UHD as well. |

They say that the format of UHD has been struggling. Even dying.
But look, they haven’t even tried to focus their attention, in the market of those, who want to watch all of the films listed in all of the responses in this thread, in 4k UHD! Is it any wonder? The format has completely ignored large portions of the population in the market, and their tastes, blocking them off of having any interest in the format. It hasn’t catered to them at all! These people have a major presence in American politics, and legislation, and Sunday’s! Would the market not double if we included them too? If all the market wants is the Wonder Woman crowd, and Comic book fans, how can it be shocked that its not growing and catching steam? Like, it made itself to be niche! Where is the attention in the format to cater to Christians, Evangelicals, people of Faith and people with Religion who would also like to be represented, and view the movies they feel comfortable watching, and enjoy, in all of the splendor that 4k UHD has to offer on pretty OLED screens!?! We just got an Ultra HD Blu-ray of The Ten Commandments (1956), and I hear it's one of the best UHD releases of any film ever made, despite all 3 hours and 51 minutes of it being on a single BD-100, which by the way sets the new record for the most video on a single Ultra HD Blu-ray disc (most of these superlong movies have had to be split across two discs.)

If the consumers are feeling this way about 4K UHD, then 8K was dead on arrival (as anticipated) with no 8K movies at all, and never will be.

The big one is Greatest Story Ever Told. UltraPanavision 70 and no great video release ever-Decent LD, half hearted DVD upgrade and shameful Blu-ray.
All we have on disc is the 199m version instead of the original longer premiere roadshow edition. It doesn't help that even on release everyone found it interminably slow, dull, boring, over-celebratory like a Sunday School class that never ends and filled with some of the worst stunt casting of all time-but it was a true epic that financially drove UA to the brink at $20m in 1965 money. The score is fantastic. |
