Disney is all kinds of cheap and lazy to re-do a 4k HDR transfer for disc. They recycled disc masters for years on Blu-ray without further improvements.
Why would they do another 4K master when they already have one? They made one to use on all formats. That's not laziness, that's efficiency.

Great news!
God I wish they'd release a 4K UHD of NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and the TRON films but my gut said well what films that are currently in 4K on Disney+ have a better chance coming out on physical disc. Many great possibilities from, THE SANTA CLAUSE to THE BLACK CAULDRON to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT to the possibility of THE MANDALORIAN even.

And let's hope it's not the same transfer.
And hopefully National Treasure 1 & 2, though with the announcement they are developing a Part 3 movie AND a Disney+ series...they may wait for the promotional tie in.

Also, say what you will...but Disney has some great Simpson/Bruckheimer and/or Jerry Bruckheimer films that are guilty pleasures for a lot of people. Crimson Tide, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, etc.

Cmon Disney...lets hope this is a a good sign...

But if the quality isn't there, it's still a disappointment. The House of Mouse doesn't improve upon their mistakes or it takes YEARS if they do. That's bordering on something other than efficiency.

Show of hands: who when they saw this title pop up in the main forums overview thought it was another wish list post?

I haven't seen the 4K of Hocus Pocus but I wonder how much of this perceived "disappointment" with their D+ offerings stems from a place of people expecting everything to look amazingly sharp and clear with eye-melting HDR? The latter is something that Disnee just do not do, but with the right display implementation (and not the tone mapping dimming them to shit) they can still look rather lovely.

Enemy of the State and The Rock (the only Michael Bay film I can stand) are the best of that Simpson/Bruckheimer bunch.

EotS has an absolutely crappy Blu-ray release full of scratches and print damage, and I would love for it to finally get some lovin'. It's actually cool that the filmmakers take a nod to Gene Hackman's spook character in hiding from the classic thriller The Conversation. That's kind of classy for a fast paced modern action film.

At this point I feel like I can spot those from a mile away. But in this case I saw Viking made the post so I never had a doubt.

I didn't stop to look at the name, I just saw 'Hocus Pocus'

You're right that Viking don't mess about though, when I see his or Pieter's name pop up I know I'm gonna get facts rather than fiction.

It definitely does reek of one of those "wouldn't it be great if we got this" movies.

Yes, that's right. I've come to accept long ago that if they didn't bother fixing Cinderella since 2005 then they're not going to bother fixing anything unless they have to (like a 4K release. E.G: The Sword in the Stone and Beauty and the Beast).

We'll finally see which "news" was true then lol

Disney needs to adjust their pricing though if they want to not include slipcovers but expect the same initial sales figures. The people who pay that much in week 1 are the collectors who want the slipcovers, the majority of people wait. I waited and got Onward for $16ish new and sealed off eBay because $30 is too much for no incentive :P

I don't get every Disney movie, but I'll definitely get this one. Glad I never bothered getting the re-release from DMC lol

Disney lowering their prices to compete with the other studios releasing discs??? Surely you jest!
