This is an interesting release considering it's not really a title I would expect to get a 4K especially when they shot the entire film with a 1080p camera. So, I'm not really sure how much they can touch up the image. I could see better shadow detail and black levels as well colors coming from Dolby Vision/HDR, but not a whole lot of detail increase. The Dolby Atmos mix is where I can see it most appealing to upgrade. The sound design and editing in general is already intense enough, so a new Dolby Atmos mix would absolutely be a killer experience.

Sony is absolutely killing it with these releases. Interested to see how this will look. Either way it'll be hard to resist considering it's one of my recent favourites.

Ahhhhhh. I love this film so much, I have the bluray, bluesy steelbook, and dammit I like the art for the standard 4k and the 4k steelbook. This may be the only film I buy all the releases for.

I think Whiplash is my favorite film of the twenty-teens. That or La La Land. (Too bad First Man was a drop off.)

While I have four different steelbooks of Whiplash, that Best Buy steel is a monstrosity. Will get the regular 4K.
