Default Best U.S. retailer to shop for a Blu-ray Movie

Hello all,

I'm planning on heading over to the U.S. around August, and I would like some opinions on which of the big stores like 'Best Buy', or 'Target', etc do I find the best competitive price for a Blu Ray Movie and/or Boxed Set. Or do I need to shop around?

I'm planning to go up to New York, D.C.(Day Trip), Chicago, and maybe L.A. on my way home.

Best pricing = Wal-Mart
Best selection = Best-Buy aka Worst-Buy

Best Buy has the best in-store prices. They also have large selections. However, their prices are still quite high on most items. I have a policy that I almost never compromise: only buy on sale.

Best Buy and Amazon have the best online prices. But Amazon lets you buy pretty much anything used, which will always be less expensive than what you'll find in a Best Buy store.

Where on earth could you possibly live that New York and L.A. are both on your way home?

If saving a few dollars is a big deal, you probaly should shop around. Best Buy will have some cheaper than Target or Walmart and then Target will have some cheaper than the other stores and so on.

While you are in Southern California, stop by Fry's Electronics. They are, by far, the cheapest for Blu-Rays.

Walmart for some older and cheap blu-rays. I got The Descent, The Punisher (2004), and Resevoir Dogs 15th Anniversary on Blu-Ray for $32.10. That is just over the price of one brand new movie at MSRP (most stores retail price)

The only problem with Wal-Mart is that their selection is a little too small for me. Best Buy in my area has so many Blu-ray movies that it takes up a full aisle plus half of another.

I'm from Sydney, Australia. I want to go to New York (There is NO direct flight from Australia, so stopover in L.A.) then D.C. (Day Trip) back to NY, maybe add Chicago or another city, or visit my aunt in Vancouver or cousin in SF then to L.A. and then back to Australia.
