When I watch tv on my HD tivo, I never get lag. When I play games on my PS3 (not online), I lag every once in awhile and sometimes a lot on blu-ray movies. Here is my setup
PS3 -> Harmon Kardon AVR247 -> Insignia 42 Plasma 720P/1080i. I know its a cheap tv, but is there a setting in the PS3 that can help with the lag. Like I said, my Tivo works great. |

Your HK AVR247 could be the culprit, there is a setting for lip sync delay. If you are running everything with HDMI you *should* be able to set this to zero, for other connections you may have to adjust this a few milliseconds to correct the syncing. A tip for this is to understand that the only time your brain perceives a problem is when the audio comes before the video, but a delay of audio after the video is easier for the brain to accept as normal. I have this same receiver and the fix I found was just to run HDMI. Good luck! EDIT: It could potentially be your TV, but again, you can utilize the AVR247's lip sync delay feature to correct this. It would be a pain to adjust it for all sources, but if you can set the audio to follow behind the video the issue will be perceived minimal although you may catch it from time to time when you look for it. no, actually i do mean video lag. the audio never has a problem. what happens when i play games or watch blu-rays, is the video will studder. again the audio never has a problem, but the video has these quick pauses over and over again. i read about video processing on some tvs. i guess some tvs (or all, i dont know) do extra processing to make the picture better, but it can sometimes cause video lag on video game systems because of so much extra work that needs to be done. thats why some tvs have a "Game Mode" option, it turns off the extra processing. my tv doesn't have this option. does this make sense to anyone.

You may also want to try a different HDMI cable, just to be sure. Quote:

I was going to say check for loose connections as well. If anything is shakey it could be vibrating causing intermittent connection, but I guess that would cause more blank screen effects than video stutter. |
