Default The War With Grandpa (starring Robert De Niro) - October 9, 2020

101 Studios is moving The War with Grandpa to Oct. 9. The Robert De Niro family comedy moves off the Sept. 18 weekend, where it was against Disney/20th Century Studios’ The King’s Man and to a weekend where there aren’t any wide releases.

The War With Grandpa follows Peter (Oakes Fegley) and his Grandpa Jack (Robert De Niro). The two used to be very close but when Grandpa Jack moves in with the family, Peter is forced to give up his most prized possession: his bedroom. Peter will stop at nothing to get his room back, scheming with friends to devise a series of pranks to drive him out. But Grandpa doesn’t give up easily, and it turns into an all-out war between the two. Christopher Walken, Uma Thurman, Eugene Levy and Rob Riggle also star.

That’s a weird trailer, “directed by guy you don’t know”, “written by two randomers”

You deny the genius behind Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007), Hop (2011), and Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever?

I don''t understand what has happened to Robert De Niro in the past 20 years. Are these the best roles he can get? Or is he just taking pacychecks? He's one of the greatest actors of all-time. Sure he's getting up there in age, but so are Michael Caine, Christopher Plummer and Ian McKellen and they're all still getting top notch roles. I mean look at The Irishman. De Niro still has chops. I don't know why all he does is dick and fart joke comedy and awful DTV thrillers. It bums me out.

Why must you hate on a man just trying to make extra money for his grandchildren before he goes on to the next dimension.

De Niro had Irishman and Joker last yet, both of which he acted great in.

Exactly. He still has it. But these roles are few and far between. I'm just trying to figure out if serious directors aren't beating down his door anymore or if he's just looking for a paycheck. Maybe its both.

He has his restaurants, hotels, and a film festival. He’s not hurting for cash.

They all have dogs in their filmography too. De Niro probably just wants to keep working and takes what he can and when it films.

He filmed War with Grandpa over 3 year ago fwiw (before The Irishman).

It was stuck in Weinstein legal hell for a while until now.

He's working with Scorsese/DiCaprio next February on Killers of the Flower Moon... and James Gray sometime soon on Armageddon Time. He's fine.
