Default Wait for the XBR9

I was about 90% committed to the KDL-40XBR7 then browsing Sony saw XBR9 and they are taking pre-oreders. Should I just wait a lil longer for the xbr9? It sounds really tempting

I would wait, it looks amazing! Definitely going to be the top LCD, and it has gotten great reviews thus far. I own 2 Samsungs that are about 1 and 2 years old, but I am considering buying an XBR 9 for my next television. It is simply amazing.

Do any of you know if Best Buy is displaying the XBR9? If not, how do you know it looks amazing? I know the new Samsung LED LCD rocks the house at BB

I have seen the 32" XBR9 at BB and it is amazing. Hands down better than the Samsung LED sets. I know that my BB is getting the 52 XBR9 when it comes out.

I work for Sony and have already seen the XBR9, I think its the first time since the XBR4 and XBR5 that I have been impressed by our styling. I will never be convinced of the need for 240hz but you can always turn it off or to a 'lower' setting for movies.
As for the Samsung LED's...keep in mind its LED Edge Enhancement not full LED backlighting. In my opinon the LED Edge Enhancement technology will eventually replace single color LCD backlights and full LED will replace wide color back lighting...eventually, now if you we could only figure out how to make the XBR8 more affordable...It has dropped $1000 in two weeks though. Lol

I'm not religious, but AMEN. I am not an expert by any means on televisions, but I wish Sony would get closer to Samsung pricing. It would make them much more competitive and probably take 30% of Samsungs sales away, because many people love and trust Sony but do not want to pay the price, especially in today's economy. But I love the XBR9, and may pay the premium later this year, because it is supreme!

Thanks, you would figure that we at Sony have lost out too Samsung for years now we would drop some prices. But, realistically we wont because we are too damn proud of ourselves to do it. Maybe we will see some changes this year with us, we need it, we are dangerously falling behind the competition.

have Sony changed their panel manufacturer again, I see from a bit of surfing that the upper screen size is back to 52" and not 55" like they had with the XBR8 (UK. equivalent = KDL-55X4500).

I'm Turning green... I'm still with the 46X2000 (XBR2).

You can turn off the motion enhancer or turn it to clear or smooth for inputs. This makes a huge difference.

LED backlit was not developed because of overall costs and longevity concerns, keep in mind the samsung 09 led models are edge lit not full backlit

If you are looking to get the new XBR9 if you have a local sony style store they usually get them before any big box stores get them.
