I caught this on TCM a few years ago...a very interesting film. It took me a bit to work through it. I had to take some pills and lie down afterwards.

This has been a title I've been eyeing, but always hesitated on getting as I always wanted to hold out for a Blu-Ray. While I do suspect that part of the reasoning that it's NOW getting one is due to the article that came out questioning the overall lack of African American filmmakers, I'm glad that my patience has finally paid off...

I won't say it didn't have an impact. I can't make that call. But this is a title they already had in the collection. It's a Blu-ray upgrade. Unless it sped up the process, it seems unlikely.

I just watched a few trailers after I saw the announcement. This seems like an incredibly interesting set of films! Definitely will keep my eye out!

I knew it was already in the collection, but I do suspect that the attention that article got did speed up the process of getting it upgraded to Blu-Ray.

Nonetheless, I do look forward to seeing it in HD.

If it is, it's a piss poor way of addressing the article, since the article was about NEW black directors. But that's not what we should be focusing on.

I'm very happy to see this film get a Blu-ray upgrade. It sounds very interesting and right up my alley.

I agree, it SHOULDN'T be what I'm focusing on, I just can't help but think of it due to the general timing.

The important thing is that these films are getting an HD upgrade.
