Default Looking To Buy New Speaker's!!!!!

I'm currently in the market to buy a new speaker setup for my HT, i've been looking at the polk audio series speaker's. for the front's the m60, bass psw10, center cs1, and the m30 bookshelf's for the rear. I've been checking this set out because i'm on a budget, under $600 for all the speaker's and i can't go over this. so i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience with these speaker's or even any other suggestion's or alternative's to this. Keep in mind $600 budget. any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I think it would be better to get you're front 3 (l/r & center) first then save for you're surrounds & get them latter IMO ! You can get better fronts this way .

The Polk Monitor 60's are selling for $130 each @ newegg, and that is even cheaper than the M50's so that one is a no brainer in my opinion. I believe that the CS1 is $99, and he can get the Monitor 30's for $99 (pair). The PSW 10 should be around $100. www.newegg.com

If you wanna do it all at once, the Monitor setup Don posted is as good as it'll probably get on that budget. I would check local Craigslist, eBay, and used markets to see if there are any deals out there on higher-end equipment, but those are sometimes rare and hard to find.

If you aren't set on Polks, www.wwstereo.com has a 5.0 system consisting of Energy speakers C-300s, C-C50, and C-50s for $400. or just get the fronts $250 at wwstereo and the C-C100 center $114 at www.buy.com Energy's are better speakers then Polk.. IMO

You could use the last of your money towards a Sub, check out the Acoustics Audio thread in the subwoofer section or even the Premier Acoustic PA-120 Aramis has, I think it can be found for $250...

I did mine just under $700 including a receiver...

Onkyo SR605 - 240.00 evilbay
Polk PSW110 sub- 110.00 evilbay
Polk M20s fronts- 79.99 x 2 Newegg
Polk R150 backs- 85.85 Amazon
Polk CSR center- 99.99 Amazon

I just finished doing what you are about to do and I love my setup. I had an awesome experience and just wanted to share. You are heading in the right direction.

You can get that sub for $229 shipped now. PM me if you need help finding one- they're eBay only. (I'm not affiliated with the sellers at all.)

Wow, Energy speakers are coming down- I'd give this a serious look as well. Polk and Energy are great bargains at their price points.

the Energys are only at that price point because they are being discontinued for the CF line.... still the "C" line is awesome and has been around for several years.

generally, id also consider that we are here to assist you in finding inexpensive speakers, something subjective to everyone is the way it sounds.

we also would suggest to audition these speakers. if ever you end up purchasing on the net, keep detail on the return policy. a good reflection of a business would allow you to audition them for a couple of days, see how it sounds like in YOUR room, and evaluate them.

Find the right kind of speakers. Research. Find a local HT specialty store and see what they have available. or investigate that Internet Direct companies reputation. Audition.

I don't think it makes a difference, which set you choose. They are both good quality and reputable manufacturers. If you have chance to audition both I strongly suggest you do so. Each speaker company has a unique sound and that sound is not appealing to everyone. Your ears are you best friend in this regard, not us, although we do try to help.

John

If you're looking at $600 bucks, and you want the Polks (and you seem to), I'd go to NewEgg and get:

2x Monitor 60s = $260
Monitor 40 set (bookshelf - rears) = $150
CS2 (center) = $120
PSW10 (sub) = $120

I'd push it to $650, and you'd have one fine setup. And with NewEgg, you don't pay anything for shipping. Know it's a tad more, but for a mere $50 you get to up the ante on both your center (always a good thing) and your backs.

I bought the 60s and the CS2 and having been running them just over a week. Love them.
