Beating the "greatest holiday lineup"
Sony’s competition hasn’t been shy about gently reminding gamers every now and then that it boasts “the best holiday games lineup ever.” With games such as Halo 3 and Mass Effect incoming, it’s hard to argue that the potential of a big Xbox 360 holiday is at the very least quite strong. Sony is concentrating on its own lineup of Sony-published holiday games for PS3: Ratchet & Clank Future, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Lair and Folklore. “The consumers are going to see this holiday—the adverts are breaking soon—that PS3 has a very good lineup,” argued Reeves. Right now, Microsoft has strong market penetration in the US, and its Xbox 360 has been consistently selling more than PS3. “This is not the US. [Europe’s] quite different from the US in terms of market shares.” said Reeves. “…PS3 outsells Xbox 360 about 3 to 1. PS2 outsells Xbox 360 by 4 to 1 [SCEE said the PS3:360 ratios are from "at least the last four months." - ed.]…. In Japan, Xbox 360 does nothing….They have a good lineup and I think they’ve done a fantastic job coming into the market. But they said last year, ‘we’ve got the greatest lineup and this is the year we’re taking off.’ They’re just repeating it. “We don’t like to set ourselves up and say we’re going to great, but then don’t. We just don’t say anything. We deal in numbers.” http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?op...=6931&Itemid=2 ![]() |

To get a closer glimpse of which console might be better, just set all three systems at the same price. THEN we'll truly see which console is the best by selling more. Pick any price - $100, $200, $600, $6000. It doesn't matter. As long as they're the same.
Anywho, I'm not surprised if many of the people here now in the forum or people who will join this forum are going to be 360 owners anyhow. 360 and perhaps Wii owners are the only ones who don't have bluray players yet and will get one or get a PS3 eventually if they haven't already. PS3 owners hit two birds with one stone actually. They get most games alreadyon the 360 plus bluray. And now that Gears and Bio are on PC, that's even more true. Is it just me or are the top games on the 360 all shooters? What if you don't like shooters? |

I own both systems. I bought the 360 solely b/c of Halo 3. The Xbox 360 is in all kinds of trouble. Massive recall for overheating issues. According to a repair shop in N.Y. city the cpu is located too far away from the ventilation fan. Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years. I've read about people being without their box for 3 months while never being able to get a straight answer from customer service as to what's going on.
The PS3 is the better deal by far; built in blu-ray, the games are only blu-ray discs and therefore capable of at least 200gb when the quad layer discs are released, it comes with built in wi-fi, rechargeable batteries in the controller that can charge by being plugged into the front of the system with the included cord, internet browser, it's whisper quiet, and free online play. Microsoft charges by the month for online play, the games are on standard def. discs which only hold 7gb, the add-on hd-dvd player only works if the 360 is also running and the 360 is quite noisy, if you want wi-fi it costs an extra $100, the batteries in the controller are only rechargeable if you buy them and a compatible charger, and no internet browsing. I had an original xbox but no PS2 as I felt it was inferior. The tables have absolutely turned. If Halo 3 isn't at least almost as good as Halo 1 then I will be selling it. PS3 is the greatest value in hi-def home entertainment by far. |
