Default Bale (likely) still Batman if Nolan Passes on 3rd movie

Can't believe there hasn't been a Batman 3 thread on here in a while (not a bad thing )......that being said, here's an excerpt from an interview with Christian Bale where he talks about a 3rd Batman. The latter part of the interview is the reason I decided to post this because I think it is of particular interest:
Quote:
"Will we do a third movie? It's got to be the right story. You can't make something like 'The Dark Knight' and then come out with something disappointing.

"I would like it if people say, 'You'll never make a good third movie.' I say, 'OK, let's make a third movie in that case, let's prove them wrong. But that's just me. The fact is, I have to! I've signed up! Chris doesn't. So I'm in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn't want to!"
Source: Comingsoon.net via TotalFilm

So, we're all assuming (and rightfully so) Nolan will finish off his Batman trilogy. But, in the unlikely event Nolan passes on 3, who could you imagine taking up the reigns? Brett Ratner anyone?

I would like to see Michael mann. I can see him continuing the same tone as the first two.

Let Nolan take all the time he wants writing this film. It seems he does intend on doing it. Not long ago I read he had some ideas in mind but was still in the process of fleshing them out.

i thought bale said he wouldn't do it if nolan didn't return?
i figured it was in his contract

as far as picking a director if nolan doesnt come back
i can't think of anyone to take it up
no one that could do it justice compared to the first two

i can see someone else doing a different take years down the road
but right now if nolans walks i say can the trilogy and wait a while if you want to make more, i just can't see anyone else taking over the current series of films no matter how talented they are

my 2cents

I really hope Nolan does the third installment and takes his time to get every little detail perfect. We don't want another X-men 3, Spiderman 3, Terminator 3, Robocop 3... hell just about any 3rd installment of any trilogy has been crap. So, whoever makes it needs to make sure they don't screw it up.

Nolan would be nuts to not take a 3rd installment. TDK had huge success.

exactly why i posted this...i too thought most of the original cast wouldn't return if nolan didn't, but i guess in bale's case he's obligated to (granted contracts can always be broken, happens all the time for reasons we, the public, rarely find out about)

Zac Snyder, easiest & most obvious choice looking at 300 & how he filmed the 'un-filmable' Watchmen

He's a great candidate to breathe new direction or add to the mix

i'm not so sure i agree with that. nolan has already established a direction for the reboots, and to change things up again might be a terrible idea (COUGH SCHUMACHER COUGH) i'd rather have them find someone who would stay true to nolan's vision while injecting a little bit of their own creative touch, but nothing drastic

if nolan departs i think bale, caine, freeman, etc. should be done with the series professionally (i couldn't resist)

AGREED
the batman character has to keep the same continuity/direction going in the next movie
unless they do as i mentioned and take a break of years (10 or more) and start anew

TDK is a pretty good ending to the series on its own if nolan decides to pass on a 3rd film and it would make it one of the minority of film series that make two and stop

but i do fully expect/want him to continue and finish a trilogy

I can see how that might be discussed, but honestly.....

This board would make Zak Snyder the next Brett Ratner if that happened. The predicate evidence is already there. Ratner got panned for not having done a good movie prior and took over x-men. Snyder has the problem already with 2 questionably acted movies under his belt poised to take over one of Hollywood's most lucrative franchises. If we're going Snyder, why not go straight to Boll?

New director should re-boot, not because it's bad, but who can do the Nolan view besides Nolan?

Oh, god, I can't even begin to imagine what he'd do with it. It'd be all hyper stylized and slowwwwwww motiiiiiiiiooooooooon fight sequences.

I wouldn't mind seeing him do a Batman flick at some point, but don't want to see him do one set in this film continuity. Homeboy said he was interested in doing a Dark Knight Returns adaptation though; I think he'd be well suited for that sometime down the line.

If they take time off though, I wouldn't mind seeing them give us Batman in a Justice League movie, set in a new continuity, then when that gig is up, start anew with a different take on the character. Give it too much time though, and I don't care if Nolan does come back, Bale might end up being too old to look reasonable playing the character.
