That's what I thought.

Well,I got a email from Best Buy today that my orders is delayed(it was supposed to be in today but never shipped so I was expecting this).I checked over the phone and it's confirmed as back-ordered(again,it's what I expected) and I should get my copy by March 3rd.

The same thing happened with my Doom Patrol Season 2.It eventually came in a week before the back-ordered date I was given so it's possible my Harley Quinn set comes in a little earlier than that March 3rd date too.Either way,as long as it gets here without damage,I'm cool waiting a bit.I just finished watching the two seasons on HBO Max a few weeks ago so I probably wouldn't crack into watching the blu ray set right away anyway.

If anyone wants a comparison:

1080p DC(Left) vs Bluray (Right)
DC vs Bluray vs 4k DC

1080p DC/HBO (Left) vs Bluray (Right)
DC vs Bluray vs 4k DC

Most scenes are like the first - slightly more prominent grain, and that's about it.
The odd scene is much sharper (such as the second), even compared to the 4k stream.

I’m really glad this came out on disc. More studios need to do this. I 100% understand the desire for continuous subscription money and I think it’s brilliant from a business perspective.

But not even going into the benefits of having something physically, this just is another way to get more money. As much as I wanted to watch this show, I wasn’t going to subscribe to a service JUST for this (plus I’m not sure I can get that app on ANY of my devices besides mobile and that’s just.. no). So instead of getting $0 from me, they just got $30. It’s not a continuous stream of money, but it’s SOMEthing over nothing.

Speaking as someone who has HBO Max via my cable provider because I have HBO and who just subscribe to Disney + last month, these streaming service do not replace physical media for me.WB has been great about releasing there product on physical vs Disney who had become terrible with their T.V. shows getting physical releases even before Disney +.

We're probably a niche market at this point((where general consumers are just satisfied with having it on streaming) but anything I really like on streaming and it gets a physical release,I will buy it as well.

I wasn't sure on Harley Quinn and wouldn't of been sure about a blind buy(some things I will blind buy but if I'm a little iffy,I don't) but figured since I have HBO Max,Iwould watch the first couple of episodes.Really loved it and watched to rest of the two seasons. And now bought the blur ray.So in effect, you got me to happly pay again to have it on physical.

Disney + and HBO Max are the only two streaming series I plan to have for the time being. So unless something gets a physical release,I do without.

No Netflix,No Amazon Prime,no Hulu(and I wasn't paying extra for the bundle with Disney +),no CBS All Access/Paramaount +,no Apple TV + etc etc.

So with those services,it's physical or bust for me.

I bought Stranger Things season 1-2 as blind buys(hopfully season 3 is eventually coming) and I got the Marvel Netfiix shows that were released including importing some(didn't know Jessica Jones season 1 was getting a U.S. release and Iron Fist season 1 didn't get that) but the rest of the shows and seasons were stopped on physical.I bought the DVD of seasons 1 & 2 of Cobra Kai and will get any future disk releases of season 3 and beyond if they come.

CBS All Access/Paramount + has been great about releasing their Star Trek shows on disk.I have both seasons of Discovery and season 1 of Picard.I plan to get Lower Decks season 1 when it is released(Target pulled their pages so they might of jumped the gun)

If The Boys ever were to get a official U.S. disk release,I would blind buy that.

So with the services I don't have,I'll buy the physical releases if offered and I'm confident I'll enjoy it.Prior to HBO Max,I bought blind the DC Universe shows,Titans,Doon Patrol and Swamp Thing and will be able to watch as released on HBO Max,the new seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol(I watched season 2 on the service as it released weekly) and then buy the blu ray releases.

And with the two services I do have,I would and will buy a physical release as well but I'm not expecting anything from Disney }

Kernie worked up some awesome cover art for this. (They're a forum member here. Different username though.) I'll be using the front and back portions in the digital realm when going to catalog this. Should have my copy Saturday.

I finished this and it's pretty good. Parts of the show are hilarious, particularly the way the show uses Bane and the King Shark character. Joker is also done well and has an excellent story arc, particularly in the second season. Batman, serious personality intact, is also handled fairly well and surprisingly prominent without stealing the spotlight, a balancing act for which the writers deserve high praise. As someone who does not read comics, though, some of the characterizations had me taken aback, especially that of Clayface, who was one of my favorite villains in Batman: The Animated Series, but is completely different here (down to apparently being based on another version of the character, Basil Karlo, as opposed to Matt Hagen) and honestly pretty boring.

I did like most of the show's version of Poison Ivy, although at times some of her lines were a bit tacky, like a lot of Harley's were, as though the two of them were 10 years younger than they should have been. And speaking of Harley, now that we're well into the Harley Quinn renaissance, I think it's pretty clear that the character can only go so far and divorced from the Joker's orbit, Harley doesn't seem to be that compelling. In this show, for example, it's the supporting players that really move things along and keep it interesting. Thankfully, there are a lot of them, almost all well-written and well-voiced, often more interesting than the title character.

Really, I think it was a little bit manic for me, but overall, there is something sweet and affecting about it that made me want to watch it all very quickly. Like I said, I'm not certain how much further the Harley Quinn character can go, especially after the ordered third season, but I will definitely give future seasons a chance on Blu-ray or UHD Blu-ray.

Warner Archive Collection's Blu-ray is of their usual high standard, much better than the 1080p discs for the DC animated videos put out by Warner Home Video at retail. The episods maintain a high video bitrate and I noticed no intrusive banding or compression artifacts. The DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio is expectantly crisp, punchy and clear. It's a great little release and I'm glad WAC waited to put both seasons together.

DEFECT WARNING. I have now received a 2nd copy from Amazon USA. Both have the same defect: playback freezes (though tries to continue) starting at about 11:30 to 12:00 into Episode #5 (Title #6) on Disc #1. I tried that section on three different BD players with the same result. Data surfaces of both discs were immaculate.

I won't be able to exchange the 2nd copy for a 3rd until Amazon has gotten back the 1st copy. (That's perfectly reasonable -- I'm not trying to make Amazon look like the bad guy here -- not at all.)

Be sure to check your copy before your free return period expires!

I practically binge watched the set immediately, 1 full disc per day with little to no pauses, and it all played beautifully.

Same, my copy is working fine on that episode. I'm using my Sony 4K UBP-X700 player for playback. Are all your players' firmware up to date? On my first Blu-Ray player, newer releases (including Warner Archive releases) began giving me problems, and some wouldn't even play. Then I upgraded to a 4K player and an All-Regions Blu-Ray player from 220-electronics and it's all been smooth sailing since.

So, we know two players it works with. I'm wondering about the other poster since they said they tried it on three players.

Was a fun episode to revisit. Loved the reveal that Harley
[Show spoiler]had a crush on Frankie Muniz and that her personality isn't just because of the Joker.

I got this because I love HQ. I've watched Disc 1 so far. The show is hilarious. I highly recommend this for any fan of HQ or Batman.

Freezes for me here on my PS3 (even after cleaning) but does not freeze on my Oppo UDP-203. I guess not technically a freeze on PS3 because it just pauses for a moment and then skips over like 20 seconds.

My copy which I ordered from Best Buy came in yesterday.I did some spot checks on each disk including what was mentioned here.

It played fine both on my BD drive of my desktop and my blu ray player which is a Sony 3D player.

It played fine all the way through. I have a Sony BDPS 3100 from 10 years ago.

I just finished Harley Quinn TAS Season 1 and 2 bluray set.

Pros:

It is a pretty funny show that pokes fun at modern superhero tropes and the modern social media age. Other than the 1966 Adam West Batman and Deadpool 1/2, I'm generally not into funny superhero shows. However, this one is very entertaining.

Most of the characters are entertaining and have good designs and voice acting. King Shark is probably my favorite. I like how he is generally chill, but become savage in key moments. Also, I like that Batman and Joker aren't just running roughshod over it. The "haggard and low self esteem Gordon is funny , and also a nice change of pace from the stock "Good cop/loving father" he's usually depicted in other shows/movies. Seeing Bane being treated like crap by the other villains and his soft/caring sides in the pit crack me up.

There's not much action but it is good when its there.

Cons

Even though this is a Harley Show, I feel like Im the least interested in her storylines. KS, Ivy, Gordon, and even Sy Borgman feel more interesting to me.

The first season feels like a 13 episode take on "harley and Ivy" from Batman TAS. Many team shows usually do some spotlight episodes with members of the supporting cast, and I wish this show would do that more often. We go to see KS go back to the Shark Kingdom only late into S2. Sy was hinted at having a mysterious past, but little has come of it.

Clayface seems the least developed and his Shakespearean actor bits seem less funny as time goes on. IIRC they havent even said which version this one is. I'm guessing Basil Karlo but who knows. Also, they need to be more creative with his powers in battles.

I dont like Penguins voice actor.

Miscellaneous: This is one of the few streaming shows that I dont feel like binging compared to other superhero shows. I watched 2 episodes per day, but didnt feel the urge to watch more even though I had all the episodes available to me unlike folks watching it as it released.

Overall: 8/10

I tried the two defective copies on three players: Oppo BDP-93, Oppo BDP-103, and a Panasonic 4K UB820. I didn't mention this before because I don't believe it has anything to do with the players -- the discs are defective. And, yes it's not a permanent freeze, but (depending on the player) a brief freeze, some staggered distorted playback, a skip ahead of 20 seconds or so and then maybe normal playback (unsure because I was ejecting the disc at this point). Any defect in playback, no matter how minor, necessitates replacement. Not that it matters, but the Oppo 93 had the least problems and the Panasonic 4K UB820 by far the most -- it started with a loud snap that I thought might blow some speaker fuses!

Okay, for some reason, there's defective copies. Some people got them, some people didn't. You can keep asking for a replacement from your retailer, or contact Sherri.Bogard@warnerbros.com and ask about getting a replacement from the manufacturer.
