Default Holy cow - look at Amazon!

http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/ it appears that the hd dvd boys are having a little buy week as Shaun of the Dead and Bourne are way up. first off, its cool to buy off amazon, we are winning off amazon, but don't get caught up in these numbers and not buy from retail, buy from them too. after all if retail sees blu-ray selling and hd dvd not, guess what they are going to drop: hd dvd. this looks like a huge desperate shot from the hd dvd camp. if they win 1 week, they will call it the second coming, lets buy, buy, and buy some more this week! let them have the biggest release advantage ever and still lose. Go Buy Blu-ray! Now! Make them lose their precious week, so they will shut up and Paramount will see how stupid they are. I just picked up Blazing Saddles from Hastings, plan on buying more tommorow!

It's just the buy 2 get 1 free sale that's going on. Blu-ray's numbers are up too.

it seems a lot of us are buying off amazon today because of the sale. maybe we should move the buy-a-thon up to today AND do the amazon sale...if you can spare the cash. go big or don't go at all?

alright so today i got blazing saddles, bridge to teribithia, the patriot, and ice age 2! add another 4 to the blu-ray total. this is really great, i guarentee the BDA is doing this. whatever advantage hd dvd had this week just got cancelled out. great way to counter getting dicked over by paramount. are they doing the same deal with hd dvd????

Not sure about that. If it was BDAs doing, you'd assume it'd be advertised somewhere. Other than the post by the OP (thank you), I had no idea this sale was going on. Not even from Amazon's BD page.

i think its too coincidental that this sale is going on the week of no new blu-ray releases. the BDA didn't have enough warning to get a flick out in time, so they pull this, brilliant! itll actually sell 5x as many movies. ive heard there is no hd dvd deal, so it looks like it could be the BDA, and tonights massive sale has forced all the hd dvd boys who were gonna buy heroes and blades tommorow pre-order it tonight. sales won't be as hot tommorow for sure.

Those first two graphs are for the top 10 and top 25 products. Look at the top 100. Our purchases are span the breadth of the BDs they offer.

what are they gonna say, we the commitee of the bda have subsidized amazon to do a big sale because we got screwed by paramount, and now this way hd dvd will lose for sure....AGAIN! by advertising it, they look desperate.

No, but amazon could have put a huge "BD Sale" page together without mentioning the BDA.

I think Amazon leaves the "word of mouth up to the fans" I did my part today it was small compared to some of you but I just do not have the money right now to go on a BLU BENDER!

I don't know how many of you have the money for these habits. You either live at home with the parents, don't have a gf/wife, make an insane amount of money or have large amounts of credit card debt. No matter what it is though you are supporting blu-ray and that is good.

yeah, i got yelled at by my gf because she saw my credit card statement and i spent 4x as much on blu-ray games and movies than i did on her! anyways, i got a fat scholorship, worked 40 hr weeks over the summer and other breaks and just applied for a PT job at hastings, so i got a lot of extra cash laying around.

I've been ordering too much lately too, lol. I always have enough to pay my CC bill, but I should be saving. I've been a LOT better though recently, but the buy 2 get 1 over at amazon was too good to pass up. it worked out to about 12 bucks per BRD, so i definitely grabbed 3!

Yep. The depth is there for Blu-ray. It maintains decent numbers for a lot longer.

And, Amazon remains the primary source for HD DVD. Blu-ray has better B&M support from all accounts, and probably a more B&M mindset from the gamers (zero waiting from release tolerated).
