Heck i think even saying it looks like a 15 year old ps3 version is a stretch. I remember ps2 games giving that level of detail, maybe it's just that frame but wow that game developer should be embarrassed by releasing that!

PS5 version got an update today which seems to have addressed the screen tearing. Still not a visual masterpiece but at least the most annoying flaw is dealt with.
For all Codemasters hyped up the Dualsense in their PS5 video they sure used it in the most basic way possible. Just adds a bit of tension to the triggers and turns into a vibrator with no difference feedback for puddles and stuff. The 3D audio on the other hand is nicely done unless you really hate the soundtrack since it really focuses on the music. |

remember before launch when there was a lot of rumours that Sony were using RDNA 3 features?
Looks like they could be legit, MS is full RDNA 2 and AMD/Sony will only claim to be "custom" PS5. It wouldn't be the first time either, PS4 Pro used Vega a whole 12 months before it was released. |

I was genuinely baffled by this one. The Series X has a 2 Teraflops advantage yet those comparison shots looked flipped with Series X as being at a disadvantage and this could be due to 1 of two things.
1 is that Codemasters had less time to optimise for Xbox due to Series S and Series X being done simultaneously and PS5 in either configuration has the same spec so they only had to focus on one singular optimisation and hence the Xbox version suffered in that phase. 2 is that somehow Sony has got something more than just extra speed cooking in the GPU department or the NVMe is really helping to flex the muscle here by streaming data in and out so fast the GPU can far quicker render the scenes in focus and dump everything else in the periphery before the NVMe needs to stream that stuff back in. |

If we think about it Codemasters shouldn't have any trouble with porting games between Microsoft platforms since they are all built in the same API DX12 Ultimate. So it is literally a case of building it once and you just adjust a slider to scale for the hardware limitations.
Ok, maybe I'm over simplifying it a bit but that's pretty much the dev environment and philosophy of MS now. So maybe it is a case of the lowest common denominator really hurting the performance of the best hardware. Where as PS5 isn't quite as simple to build around, they must be doing something right for a game to have that much of a difference, especially with MS touting 12tf and "full" RDNA2. I feel like Sony's "custom" set up may well have incorporated some of RDNA3, hence the reason they aren't claiming anything to do with RDNA2. Whatever the case it can only get better. Can't wait to see what Naughty Dog have to offer. |

Lol, hold your horses
![]() We still haven't got confirmation it's not a bug on the Xbox side and also, it's literally at the starting line of devs actually getting to really get to grips with the hardware and make it sing on both configurations for PS5 or Series X. We'll have to see in 3 or 4 years what the advantages and disadvantages are. It's interesting for sure but both right in their own approaches. |

Here's the thing. If performance in a game favors PS5, it's a win for Sony. If performance in a game is on par between the consoles, that's STILL a win for Sony because of the way MS has been crowing about the whole power narrative since last December "IT EATS MONSTERS FOR BREAKFAST!!!" ![]() Last edited by Steelmaker; 11-21-2020 at 10:45 PM. |

I just do question ultimately how much of these issues are being caused by devs supporting two Xbox specs vs 1 PS5 spec and the lack of time they have then to optimise both as well as the PS5. That must be playing a huge factor but also Sony could be keeping a small secret sauce up their sleeves for later |
