Default New Samsung BD-P1590 for 2009

Samsung has a new player for 2009 with the same specs as the BD-P1600 but without the flip down door that many people don't care for. The BD-P1590 is Profile 2.0, WiFi ready will decode DTS-HD MA and has Netflix and Pandora streaming. The 1590 and the 1600 share the same owners manual:

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...0,1600-XAA.pdf

Walmart.com has it for $238:

That's pretty affordable and looks like a complete player. I would love to hear a review on how good the wifi works.

Good price.

The "Wi-Fi Ready" refers to the fact that the 1600/1590 can accept Samsung's proprietry Wi-Fi dongle to add wireless support, which an extra $80 to buy from Samsung. The 3600 ships with the dongle in the box.

I purchased one of these BD-P1590 at my local Wal-Mart, and I must say that I have been very pleased with it so far. The loading time for BDs and other media is very nice and fast, taking only seconds to get from insertion to active film. This is my first Blu player and I am glad that I went with this model. I found the wireless dongle at my local Best Buy and I plan to pick one up on Thursday. I have a wireless router in my house, so I look forward to seeing what the wireless features can do for my player.

I highly reccomend this player to anyone who is searching for an effective and good performing Blu-Ray player.

I have the BD-P1600 and I love it! I looked at the 1590 at Walmart but they deal I got on Amazon for the 1600 was too good to pass up....$150.00

I noticed that the 1590 looks different than the 1600 does when the face plate is flipped down. The button arrangement is different as is the readout.

Either player sounds like it's a good choice!

Default Bd-p1590

I purchased one last week and haven't hooked up the wi-fi. I said the hell with purchasing the $80. adapter and purchased a LAN cable that hopefully I only have to plug into my router and the back of the player.
This is my first. Does anybody think I'll have a problem connecting this way?
Thanx,
EddieFMB

Well today I destroyed my BD-P1200 and went to Wal-Mart and picked this player up. I have to say that Samsung definitely makes players with incredible picture quality. I've loaded about 20 movies on it with absolutely no problems at all. For the money, I'd definitely recommend this player.

Just picked this up last night after my PS3 fried; I have to say its pretty awesome. Being able to stream Pandora and Netflix 'Watch it now' is convenient to say the least; though I still can't decide if the BD-P1590 has better picture quality over the PS3.

Default Samsung BD-P1590

I bought this player a few days ago at my local Costco. It was $170 with the Costco promo coupon. This is my first Blu-ray player and so far I'm pretty impressed. Instead of getting the $80 Samsung USB wireless adapter I got a $55 Trendnet wireless game adapter from my local Fry's and plugged it into the player's ethernet port. So far it has worked great with Netflix streaming video and Pandora.

Just picked this player (BD-P1590) up at Wal-mart for $218 as mentioned in post above.

I put in "The Warriors" Blu-ray disc and the picture quality is great, but there is a sound delay by a second or two. (So then I put "The Warriors" in my Sony BDP-S350and it played perfectly.) Anyone else having sound issues with this model Samsung?

I also tried the "Kung-Fu Panda" Blu-ray in the Samsung and this time all worked great- picture and sound. Hmmm... I hope this won't be a hit and miss Blu-ray player. Man, I am spoiled by my Sony- it has never had an issue.

Perhaps a Samsung firmware download would solve? I haven't had a chance to hook up the internet to it yet.

I haven't experienced any delay issues with mine yet. There is a firmware upgrade available. Mine updated when I connected the network but you can also do an update by downloading the firmware from Samsung and using a USB flash drive.

What sort of cable are you using to connect to the internet?

I read one review where the person was using CAT-6 cable. I have some CAT-5 cable laying around my house. Is CAT-6 better?

I am hooked on Netflix now and I am looking to get a BD player with fast loading times, great picture, and I can stream Netflix movies.

You can use Cat5 or 6.
Cat5 ethernet cables are made for 100mb transmissions
Cat5e ethernet cables are made for 100mb and 1GBtransmissions
Cat6 ethernet cables are made for 1GB transmissions

I'm just using the short length of cable that came with the wireless game adapter. I don't know if it is Cat 5 or 6 but I don't think it matters.

The player looks nice but this tread makes me hesitant about buying it.

Thanks for advice sfmarine on the cables.

I was leaning towards a LG 390 for my BD and Netflix combo. But then I heard I'll get faster streaming for Netflix by using a LAN cable (CAT 5 or 6). So, if I'm going to connect the LAN for this reason, why not save a $100?

At Wal-Mart you can always return the player if it goes bad.

Never easy making a decision on this.

Thanks again!
