Ok, so I bought the Samsung BD P1590 and the Samsung Wireless LAN adapter. I am generally a novice when it comes to setting these things up. I originally could not get the wireless network to say connected after entering my password unless I turned off the DNS auto feature (and when I tried to fill in the requested info., it never connected and teh test did not get past teh network IP test stage). I figured out that if I turn off the security on my router (Linksys Wireless G), the player will allow me to proceed with DNS auto on and (I assume) get the other information needed to work. It says connected and the IP Address, etc. fields all fill in. It even says there is a firmware update, but when I try to download it, the screen never gets past the blank bar saying 0% complete. In addition, when I network test, I get check marks in the first two categories - find the MAC address and network IP, etc. - but it fails at the "Ping the Gateway" portion of the test. I have absolutely no idea what to try next. Any ideas? Thanks in advance - I really want to use the Pandora and Netflix features - it is the main reason I bought this.
P.S. I read here that the name of the wireless network can be a problem, so mine is now without spaces and only contains capital and non-capital letters. |

Hey all - just in case anyone has a similar problem, I thought I would post what I did that seems to have worked. First, I again changing my router name (no spaces, no characters, no upper case). I had done the first two before, the latter was new. I also moved to WEP 64-bit encryption rather than 128. I then reset the player. The network connection test worked and I was able to download the new firmware. I streamed Pandora this weekend for hours; played a non-BluRay DVD last night and watched 10 minutes of a test stream from Netflix that worked very well.
Now all I need to do is figure out how to hook up the optical cable to my Bose and I will be all set! |
