Default Buying Standard DVD's

You know lately I've been buying either Blu Rays or HD DVD's. But... I've always bought more Blu Rays mainly because the selection is better and I can find what I want. Sometimes I'll buy HD DVD only because they've got films like Batman Begins and Bourne, Matrix, and now Heros.

But I've come to the realization that many of the member in here hate HD DVD, and will stay clear of it. Personally I don't really hate too many things, as I feel it's a strong word and it takes alot of energy to hate something, which I'd rather not use especially against some format or something. But that's just how I am I never really use the word hate in my own vocabulary.

Right now I'm begining to wonder and even questionthe motive of people who are saying they're going to buy "it" the latest or some movie apparently by paramount or universal on normal DVD. I question buying normal DVD's all together because if normal DVD's out number high def sales, or if high def sales NEVER come close to standard DVD's then how are either formats going to survive? Yes even blu ray. In the end I'd like one of them to survive i think, I mean I use both and seem to be pretty happy with both of them. If one were to die and the other were to live, that's be fine I suppose I mean at least I would have built up a collection of decent films that I do in fact want to watch on them. But if this whole thing ends and standard DVD's just win out wouldn't that be the worst possible scenario?

SO in the end I'm wondering why people are telling me that it's better for me to buy standard DVD's over HD DVD's. Personally I think you're bullshitting yourself and me if you honestly say even if you had both players you wouldn't buy an HD DVD ever. But again this is just my personal opinion it's all money and it's all added bonuses. I'm pretty sure Paramount or Universal were happy enough when you decided to pay 7-10 dollars for that ticket to see their film that saturday for you and your date. And I think anyone who is against Paramount and losing Transformers and wants to boy cot or act against it. Should do so buy staying clear from it all together. Which means you don't buy the standard dvd, you dont buy the HD DVD of course, and you Definately don't buy it on Blu Ray in 18 months. Anything else is really confusing the situation on where exactly you stand. I personally don't stand any where I just want to watch the god damn film lol! After a hard day at work.

If you're actually read all of this, thanks, it's just something that rattled my brain this late evening.

Honestly....I havent bought a SD since I purchased my first BD(Dec 18th, 2007...no...I dont have it memorized....looked back to when I bought my PS3 on my bank statements) I realize I am missing out...and that me only putting my money toward BD doesnt matter....but maybe if more people were in the same boat it would. I am sure there are very similar topics to this if you were to search, and some of the vets will tell you to "use the search function...blah blah blah"....but overall....I wouldnt own an HD-DVD player regaurdless....heck....Im so narrowminded I wont go see Bourne Ultimatum in the theaters...and won't see Transformers again(until it goes to the Dollar Theater)
