How much do u think i can get one of these for? I went into best buy today, and they had the store dispaly model 5020 marked down to 2,099... good price or no. It had little scratches on the side panel just from being on display, but other then that it was fine.
And opinions on these? I want the 111, but i just think its too expensive for me. Im looking to spend more like 2,000 range |

BB had the 5020 , new for $1,999 & that was as low as they have ever had it. What's f-up is the display model was $2,099... Makes no sense huh!?!? Anyway the 5020 is one of the finest displays out, (anyone who tells you different does not own one) will love it for years to come. I use my 5020 more than my 111FD & 151FD. Go figure...

So yeah in a nutshell it seems to be negligible. |

I do view the 5020 in a "dark room". Really that's the way any TV/BD showed be viewed. I know it's not possible for everyone to create that kind of setting , though. These are just my opinions & observations , having spent lots of time with many grade 'A' displays & HDTV's. |

I'm not an owner of Kuro sadly, but I've been looking at them a lot at a Best Buy Magnolia store, and the difference between the Elites and non-Elites was extremely small. I think Cnet likes to scrutinize the more expensive products a lot more closely which is reasonable. I mean you are paying a premium for these sets. The differences came up in test equipment, but you will be hard pressed to actually see them without them being side by side. Even then the differences will be minimal. The 5020FD is a pretty accurate set overall and everything looks very natural. Its an excellent set only topped by the Elites and that's mostly due to the Elites having more adjustments.

Plasmas don't have that problem since their response time is so fast. LCD's response times are in milliseconds while plasmas are at a fraction of a millisecond. If you are concerned about flicker in regards to 24p performance then there are no worries with Pioneer plasmas. They perform flawlessly in this regard.

But I justified it this way: 1) When it had come in 11 months ago, I set it up myself. It never sat in Dynamic mode, other than when someone decided to put it in dynamic, and I'd change it back. 2) It was running off a 16x9 feed 95% of its time on the shelf, and it was at least a month, so almost 400 hours, before a blu-ray player was hooked to it. Basically, I know the phosphors have been worn fairly evenly. 3) There was absolutely no damage to the screen, the bezel, or any visible part of the TV. That was kind of awesome, but had a lot to do with the fact that after I set it up, it was never moved. 4) I have a year's warranty from date of purchase. Once it has been about 11 months, I can schedule for a tech to come in and make sure there are no major issues (I think cleaning the dust inside is all that will need to be done), and then once the warranty expires I don't think I will really need to worry, since the TV will have lots left in her. 5) The store I worked at had industrial grade power filtering equipment (I don't know if that's the norm, I just know we had it), so I know that the power supply has never had any jolts or brownouts. So basically, had any of these elements not been present, I probably wouldn't have gone for it. The biggest reason was the price, but again, I wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't known its whole history, which unfortunately the OP doesn't. |

http://forums.highdefdigest.com/home...y-1500-bb.html Take it for what it's worth but the person that posted it has almost 9k post on HDD forum. He did say it was a haggle deal. So no, you didn't miss the memo since one, to my knowledge, has never been advertised for $1,499. I did however just purchase a 5010 for under $1,500 delivered via Sam's Club auctions. I'd have to see it too believe it. I don't care how many post someone has on the HDD forum... I could see "his friend" getting the 5020 for $1,499 if he bought 4-5k worth the gear on top of the TV (maybe), but not out-right? The price is already so low, for BB to knock off 25% of there lowest price so far is worth a round of aplause.
