And for anyone that is interested in those digital copies - the same 8-film "package" goes on sale virtually every Halloween season and/or Friday the 13th for around $13 bucks.

I would imagine those first sets will be going OOP to make room for these new ones. Would be silly to have 2 in print that would look like identical content to the average Joe. Then everyone would just buy the old cheap one. There's probably enough oldies around that they might be on sale again this Halloween season, but this will probably be the last time for those.

Who the Hell would buy this?

I already have the 1/2 3/4 5/6 double bills.
The 8 movie collection from a few years ago.
The Scream Factory box set from last year.

I don't need more copies of these films!

Sorry if I wasn't clear - it's the digital copies that go on sale for $13 on many platforms - Vudu, XBOX, etc. - for $13 (or $13.13) every Halloween season and/or Friday the 13th. So if folks were getting the new set based on the digital copies being included - just wanted to specify that they regularly go on sale as a set pretty cheap on their own.

I agree, they will phase out the older set - though, I wonder how long that will take as it was so mass produced - I see it so often in the cheap bins of Blu's at retail. The market is pretty saturated with them.

I have the 8 disc DVD set, the 8 disc blu-ray set, the Tin set, and the SF set. I wonder if the SF set is about to be OOP? I'm good on Friday sets until a 4K set is released, if that ever happens. What I would love is for Shout to do a set for A Nightmare on Elm Street like they did for the Friday films. Any chance of Warner's licensing out the franchise to Shout?

Since they're just going to use the 5/6 and 7/8 double feature discs yet again on this new collection, no chance. 1-4 are strong possibilities though.

So, is the red case the only difference with this release? I own the deluxe box set and I am very happy with that, but was curious if anything is added to this set. I don't see much about this release other than here.

The cover art is slightly different.
If press release stuff is to be believed, the first 4 films will be the new 4K scans from the Scream boxset. They'll look better, but you'll lose the uncut part 1 as only the theater cut disc will be included. 5-8 will be the same old 2 movies on one disc all the other releases (besides the Scream box) are.

New Amazon promo image pretty much confirms first 4 films will be the remastered versions.

In addition to the first movie probably losing its Uncut version in this set, it seems like there won't be a 3D part 3 while the previous Paramount set has the red and blue glasses version. At least, there hasn't been mention of it for this one.

I forgot, someone did point out before that Paramount is advertising the uncut part 1 being available in the provided digital copy. If that means enough to anyone.

What are the chances Part 2’s uncut gore feature will be on this release or is that exclusive to Shout?

Might be likely. Paramount has all ownership to the footage lock, stock, and barrel.

Did Paramount do the transfers for SHOUT, or will these be different?

They will most likely be the same. I'm sure Paramount did the transfers.

If I have the scream factory set I guess I don't really need this. Yet the red case and cover art is really cool and makes me kinda want it.

I watched Part VII last night on the old 8-Film Collection and I thoroughly enjoyed it but when Tina kept telling people that she saw someone coming out of the lake, I wonder why no one asked her what he looked like?
