Germany The Ninth Gate (Die neunte Pforte)

Does anyone know if Polanski's movie "The Ninth Gate" is scheduled for release on Blu-ray anywhere in the world in the coming months? Any information would be gratefully received! Kinowelt issued a great German release in 2007 ....

The german title of this movie is "Die neun Pforten" so the thread title should be changed.

Even though it doesn't street till 8/11/09, DVD Pacific shipped - by accident - my copy on 7/24/09 and it arrived yesterday. $14.39 S&H included.

The transfer is MPEG-4 AVC Video and audio is DTS-HD Master 7.1.

it wouldnt be worth it thou cuz what youd pay in shipping alone (in addition to price of title) you may as well walk into a bb or futureshop and pick it up here.

p.s - i hear pq is not that great. 3 or 3.5/5 (only a slight upgrade over the dvd)

This is due to be released today, but I have not read any reviews as to whether the German version (I live in Germany so it would be easy for me to buy today, if I wanted to) is an improvement in terms of PQ over the old US release. I will only buy if that is the case .....

Reduman, did you ever have the Kinowelt 2DVD? If so, was the half-hour documentary on Polanski in English or French, or was it in German?

Hi,
I actually have an unopened copy of the Kinowelt 2 DVD version somewhere. I will check this for you and get back to you over the next few days - sorry, it's just that I am very busy at the moment!
I hope that the Kinowelt blu-ray version is better ( PQ wise) than the earlier US release - I am still waiting for an authorative review before committing my cash. The versions can be very different. I am led to believe that the new US release of the "Name of the Rose" (starring Bond veteran Sean Connery and a very young Christian Slater) is much better in terms of PQ than the German version .....

I have just checked a few minutes of it - it's in English I presume you mean the feature "Inside Roman Polanski" ??

No I mean the half hour interview listed in the Wicked Vision review of the 2xDVD set (it appears it has been ported over to the BD, that's why I'm curious).

The 32 minute interview with Polanski is in French with German subtitles - so I hope your French or German is up to scratch!!

Thank you.

My French is rusty and my German is non-existent , so I will await A/V reviews...
