I apologize if this thread has already been created. I searched and didn't see it, so I thought I would post to express my enthusiasm for the Ninth Gate getting a blu release!
I thought it was a movie that would take a long time to make it to blu....and the preorder is up on Amazon already! ![]() Although it's a guilty pleasure type of movie, rather than a masterpiece, I love it-are there any other fans out there? ![]() I thought they took the best parts of The Club Dumas to make the movie. |

As big a fan as I am, you might want to rent it. However if you like movies with a little supernatural or mysterious twist, you might love it too! The Amazon preorder price of 13.99 is certainly within the range where a blind buy might be worth it. No release date listed as of yet, though.

Frank Langela, eh?
Never heard of this to be honest. The $13.99 pricepoint for a pre-order is good...but there are so many awesome movies in the pipeline...and my wallet is not fat these days. Congrats to those of you who are fans of this flick : ) |

I had read the book then saw the movie. Big mistake. I was very disappointed.
BUT... when I saw it later on DVD, I liked it! The book was too complicated to cover all the plot details in the movie, and once I accepted the simpler (and appropriate) plot of the movie, I enjoyed it. I'm a Depp fan. He plays his character very low key, and for me, true to character. I have it on DVD so I don't know if I'll upgrade -- depends upon the transfer. I've watched this movie several times -- it has good replay value. |

Thanks for this post!
I am a huge fan of The Ninth Gate and it's my fav Polanski film which I find myself watching frequently. Love the journey it takes you on. I wonder when it actually releases...but I don't care, I already pre-ordered it. Last edited by FindYourWay; 05-01-2009 at 02:47 AM. |

This is one of my favorite movies. I honestly think of it as a masterpiece. It's sinister, decadent, lighthearted and adventurous all at the same time.
I am in agreement with Spa, you're best off watching the film before the reading the novel. I'm definitely upgrading from the DVD because the DVD never had English subtitles. |

Really the best thing about this is the price - $19.99 MSRP @ $13.99 after the standard 30% discount. The other Lionsgate titles listed at the same time (Chaos, Replicant and See No Evil) also have the same pricing. This is a great price point for catalog titles and hopefully the trend continues.
