I'm ordering it, including it with an order from Amazon.de along with Time Bandits and In My Father's Den. It's from Ascot Elite, which is usually Region free and a great job on their blu-ray releases. Very good movie.

I like that but overall I prefer the UK quad poster:

Great image but not seen a bigger version.

Yeah, I don't care much for that blu-ray artwork. But, according to Amazon.de and imdb.com, it's supposed to look like the artwork in your first post.

I'll confirm and post my impression when it arrives, which hopefully is any day now.

Finally got my copy of The Walker in and watched it last night. Very nice PQ, very rich in detail and natural looking. The English audio is only standard DTS 5.1, but adequate for the dialog driven film. The back cover says it's Region B, but it loaded fine on my Region A Samsung BD2500 player. Also, there are no forced German subtitles when selecting the English audio.

Managed to buy The Walker. Had a quick look and it certainly looks very nice image-wise. Quite a bit of grain and I can't comment if it's meant to be there or it's a not perfect transfer (in the minds of the people who made it). The Pathé start logo does look overly filmic. Maybe someone who's seen this at the cinema can comment?

Good news as mentioned above, tested Region A and B even though the cases say B. No forced subtitles.

The case is a dual cover ie one side has the ridiculous censor's mark (not below) and the other is sans. It's a slim US style case too.

Is it proper 1080p/24hz? The cover seems vague, 1080/50i?

I've not bothered to get into ripping or even looking closely at Blurays as the price of writeable meda is so high and like most people I go with the reviews.

If there's an app you can recommend to check the spec I'll install it and post the info.

It played fine in my US Samsung BDP2500, so it can't be 1080i50 - the Samsung keeps playing the disc but just displays a blank screen whenever it encounters 50Hz material.

Just like 99% of all Bluray owners I'd assume.

Even Jesus wouldn't care and I'm sure he'd prefer HDDVD anyway.

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but I just received this disc. Despite the claims above, it will not play on my Region A PS3. I put the disc in, it seems to be loading, then I'm back at the PS3 menu screen. I've tried the Top Menu trick, but no luck.

Bummed.

Bummed.

It's possible there is some 50hz content (logo, trailer, menu) before the movie itself that is throwing your PS3 off. I know some players that can't handle it will just skip past 50hz material but I believe the US PS3 just stops like it's hit a wall.

It's a 1080i 25fps release. Also, the songs are playing at higher pitch as a further evidence. Perhaps prepared for the broadcasting initially.
