I'd stay "Tru Blu", and choose not to give in.

This holiday season, hopefully we will be able to pound the opposing side several times over.

At first when BD begins released in june 2006 ,i feel frustrated ,my favourite format BD is not doing well but i still have faith and stronger believe BD is the stronger format and the hard format to get beat by anyone or any format.

The result was outstanding keep following the great news and once PS3 get birth i begin to buy BD and enjoy BD experience.

So how can i choose HD-DUD no way at ALL

I will purchase an HD DVD player and start buying HD DVD disks IF AND ONLY IF some day in the future HD DVD software sales reach the 90% mark for total sales since inception. Until that extremely unlikely day I shall remain Blu-ray only.

For those out there that claim nuetrality...
You are in a war whether you like it or not. A war that must be fought, the prevailing sentiment around here is that only one format can exist in the long run. Two formats just won't claim mainstream acceptance. So if I can put it into this context for you...
Say your fighting an actual real bullets/swords war, Blu vs red. Once you purchase anything HDM, you have been drafted. Now lets say that every HDM player and movie you purchase is a confirmed kill. You purchase your PS3 and get your 8 free movies per Amazon.com sale going on right now. BAM! 9 kills. However as you continue serching through Amazon and you start thinking about Transformers or maybe it's Waterworld . So you decide to pick up that cheap HD player and 8 free movies. BAM! 9 kills via friendly fire. Now how is that going to end this ridiculous war. That's worse than being a hippie and going to your peace rallys saying we can all co-exist all the while the HD thugs are stealing our land, raping our women and burning our villages.
We are fighting against the oppresive tyrants of HD-DVD attempting to force sub-standard technology on us. Sometimes war is necessary. If you think it is not, just try telling William Wallace or a small legion of Spartans that war is not necessary and we can all co-exist.

so please don't trample on our little blu army men while we have some fun. besides we're all just alter egos of ourselves on here anyways.

but influx does have a point. its like buying a dvd player then going and buying a laserdisc player because there's a movie on there that isn't out on dvd yet.

and since my earlier post I went and had a chorizo burrito. mmmmm good mexican food.

Damn it.. (unloads gun...click) grumble.. grumble..

Default Help me to be strong -

I have owned blu-ray about three weeks now - have purchased upwards of 25 discs - but to be honest with you, I am starting to gettired of all the goodies that will be coming out only on HD.It is SO HARD not to go neutral - as poster JIMMY said - we need to care for ourselves, not for the format war that these damn companies caused. I want to do theright thing, but I also know that I am paying good money to enjoy HDTV - period - for myself.

I have no plans to buy an HD-DVD player. I am quite sure that people will pick the better technology (Blu-ray) and actually already have (sales at 2:1). Paramount moving to HD-DVD is crappy, but they don't exactly have the greatest movies anyways.

I think what people need to remember is that when Blu-ray does win the format war, all the movies that you can't get right now on BD, will become available, and maybe even in better form than their current HD-DVD counterparts.

Here's the problem, if you go neutral, you are simply increasing the odds of exclusivity. You may no longer have an issue because you can play both formats, but you simply prolong the issue. If you were to stay with one format and that format wins out, you will get all the "other" content that you had previously missed.

I foolishly picked up an HD DVD player a few months ago. I haven't bought any movies for it in a while though, and I'm not going to buy ANY new movies for it either. Anything I want on HD DVD will eventually be blu. Wait for it.

its like growing up eating awesome mexican food at places like alejandro's, alberto's, sombrero's, rigo's or carnitas uruapan. then finding yourself one day standing outside a taco bell thinking ''wow a chalupa. that sounds good.'' its a disgusting thought.
Sorry but uhh Mexican Food is garbage anyway you look at it, LOL. It's always Cheapest bill at the end of the day isn't it? Fast Food or in a Resturant.

I only own both because I feel that if I wait out like some of you people in here are, I'm worried that both will be dead by the end of the format war. You gotta admit that when VHS and Beta came out, Technology wasn't taking off like it is currently. If you're involoved at all with computers or are in the computer world at all, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Things are getting out dated REAL QUICKLY. Meaning that yeah your HDTV that you're loving right now probably has a better chance of becoming out dated then this war ending. But that's just my 2 cents.

Sure, I'll pledge.

I bought a PS3 not too long ago, and I was amazed at the quality of Blu Ray. I'm new to the home theater scene so to speak. I'm also very glad something high end as Blu Ray was affordable for someone in college, like myself. I own only a 32 inch, 1080p HDTV LCD with an HDMI input...pretty bare bones considering what everyone else on this forum has.

Regardless, I'd like to see more Blu Ray movies out there, especially the stranger ones like Tekkonkinkreet... very excited about it. I will stay Blu Ray exclusive, I will not compromise with DVDs or buy any Paramount and Universal products instead opting to pirate their movies until they switch over. I'm looking at you, Hot Fuzz.

go ahead and enjoy your chalupa. if you don't like mexican food you must not have ever had it. if you've had del taco, taco bell, or any national chain you haven't had mexican food. you don't put ground beef in a burrito or a taco (slaps head). I forgot to give a shout out to alvaro's. oh so many nights coming home from wherever at 5 a.m. and wanting some carnitas.

sonny. that was hilarious.

just saying that going from blu to hd is like devolving. it makes no sense to take a step back. its like moving on up to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky, then deciding to get a timeshare in an industrial park.

ok i'm out of analogies. and I keep getting hungry.

I was very tempted to pick up an HD DVD player back when they first had the big price drop (around Father's Day?) but I managed to resist. The decision was based on all of the things that the OP mentioned. I won't be putting any money into Toshiba's/Microsoft's pocket anytime soon. Financially supporting HD DVD in any fashion provides the fuel to accomplish things like paying off Paramount. It hurts everybody in the long run.
