What happened to "The Prisoner" series coming out this month? - Blu-ray Forum

At first, I was concerned about if it would be region locked, but now it looks like it is not coming out. It was listed to come out this month, but Amazon.uk has pulled that date...and there is only a tiny note saying "DVD Release Date: 12 December 2012." LOL, 12/12/12? I AM NOT A NUMBER!

And I noticed the "On the Waterfront" Blu-ray date got pulled from Amazon.uk, too.

It's a Network release. They're not particularly well known for sticking to release dates. This news isn't much of a surprise to me. However, they do have a passion for the content they licence and I'm sure the delay - no matter how long it is - will be beneficial to the release.

That is not the actual release date. When a distributor notifies Amazon that a release will be delayed, they put a placeholder date far in the future that has nothing to do with the actual release date. Some items have crazy release dates listed like 2036 on Amazon. It is a quirk of whatever software they are using.

Does anyone have the scoop on what has happened to The Prisoner Bluray release in the UK? I had it on pre-order with Amazon.co.uk for delivery on 14th May but got an email from them saying they would not be stocking the title, I have done a Google search but can find no explanation for the delay to the release.

Sorry Exy, I don't know what the delay is, maybe they are waiting for the remake/miniseries until they release the original set on Blu. Hopefully after they release The Prisoner on Blu they might consider Danger Man...gotta love Patrick McGoohan.

There has not been an official cancellation notice issued by the distrib, but the release has been pulled off.
