Q: Why are there DVDs on this Blu-ray List?
A: So when the Blu-rays are released instead of having to shift the entire list to put them where they go I just have to change the DVD to the Blu-ray.
Just think of the DVDs as placeholders until the Blu-rays are released.

I LOVE the Castle films with Joan Crawford And Vincent Price. I wish he would have worked with Bette Davis. I have the Dvd of It's A Small World. It is incredibly entertaining and I recommend it for William Castle fans or anyone who likes "little people" films. You can get it here for cheap.....

Of the eight films in the two Powerhouse box sets, the only one to be coded for Region "B" is Strait-Jacket. The rest are region-free.

When their numbered/limited edition box sets sell out, they typically reissue the films individually, with the same supplements, but without the thick booklets that accompany the discs in the box. I am not aware of Powerhouse ever adding a region code to a disc upon its re-release, so I would imagine the individual discs of The Tingler, and the other 3 films in Vol. One, are all-region, as they had been originally. But I have not verified that. I have the box sets, and can confirm that all but Strait-Jacket are region-free.

Vol. Two is still available, so the films in that box are not yet available individually from Powerhouse.

Thanks for all the effort you went to setting up this well organized reference list.
I'm actually a fan of Castle's pre-shocker titles. Would love to see Mill Creek put together Adventure and Western boxes similar to their Film Noir sets.
They'd be perfect places to incorporate the following:
(Adventure)
Serpent of the Nile, Slaves of Babylon, Charge of the Lancers,
The Saracen Blade, The Iron Glove, Duel on the Mississippi ,
Drums of Tahiti
(Western)
Battle of Rogue River, Fort Ti, The Gun That Won the West etc

Mill Creek drew from the Columbia catalogue for their 12 film Noir sets and that studio produced plenty of excellent non-Castle genre titles in the 50's. More than an enough to augment new Blu-ray packages. Things like "The Brigand", "Fortunes of Captain Blood","Captain Pirate", "Rogues of Sherwood Forest", "The Golden Hawk". And lots more.

Would also like a Blu-ray set of Castle's "Whistler" films from the 40's. Some of them are pretty terrific.

I don't have either box set so I can only go by what's listed on this site.

I understand. Since my last post, I visited the Powerhouse Films website, and verified that the individual releases of the 4 films in the Vol. One box set are indeed "Region Free".

The Mill Creek blu-ray's are a lot less expensive, but if you don't mind paying a bit more for slightly superior transfers, and much better supplementary material, the Powerhouse/Indicator editions are highly recommended, for those who may not have purchased some of these films yet.
