But if that was a contractual obligation all along, it's odd that they didn't add new showtimes until Monday night.

Yeah, it looks like maybe Snake Eyes on the 23rd will get a few premium then Jungle Cruise the week after. Space Jam definitely got screwed there.

StereoD was mentioned once in the credits but I believe it was in reference to animation work

Looks like this is the same case as 'Mortal Kombat', never in 3D. Not looking good at all.
Whereas on Wikipedia, it's stated that it will be released in RealD 3D, IMAX 3D and whatnot.
I know in the states atleast there are NO IMAX 3D titles of any kind coming for alteast the rest of 2021, since IMAX 3D glasses arent prepackaged like real D, they have chosen to hold off on any IMAX 3D screenings till atleast year as a covid precaution.

I hadn't thought about this, but my understanding is that Real 3D glasses are continuously "cleaned" and re-wrapped, is that not so?

Also, by this point the experts agree that transmission by touch is a non-issue outside of ICUs or simular medical facilities. Of course, a lot of people are still buying the "hygiene theater" or using wipes on everything.

Real D glasses are collected in a recycle bin, shipped back to Real D. then real D breaks them down in a process ( thats pretty similar to how other plastic items are recycle) and makes new glasses out of them and ships those to theatres. they arent cleaned at the theatre. thats always been one of the selling points going back to 2005 is that they ship to theatres pre-packaged so no one else has worn them before you have. I took a tour of their recycling facility back in 2005 (my venue was actually their testing theatre back when they were first trying to get theatres and studios to back them. back in 2005/2006)

Even so, whatever cleaning procedures that were in place before the pandemic for the IMAX 3D glasses should be adequate now.

Not that I expect this will actually happen but, still.

They are but I just know we’ve been told by IMAX corporate there will be no IMAX 3D presentations through the end of year at least.

Well this came in at #1 topping Black Widow in the US this weekend. So maybe they will try to rake more coin by making a 3D version like they did with another Ryan Coogler project Creed?

Where and when was Creed released in 3D? I see some random listings for "Creed 3D" with no real details... which makes me think it was rumored and never actually happened.

Otherwise I'm only finding "Assassin's Creed 3D" with my searches.

There should be a thread on this somewhere on this site.......

Anyways, Creed was originally released flat back in 2015.

It was re-released on Feb 5, 2016 with a limited-play 3D version here in the USA. Hollywood tends to re-release movies January/February in order to build hype for various awards considerations, like the Academy Awards. Sylvester Stallone was up for best supporting actor.

Creed was mostly an MGM movie with WB handling the distribution. I don't think anybody knows how and why a 3D version was created. Perhaps it was originally intended for the China market.

Oh, I didn't see a link to the forums in my searches, but now that I specifically looked for it in the Blu-ray.com Forums I see the post talking about the limited release.

What a supremely odd decision... especially if it's as slapdash as it sounds from the accounts from those who have seen it. I guess there have been more recent lackluster 3D conversions, but there haven't been too many as bad as *Clash of the Titans* or *The Last Airbender* in the past few years.

Truly a shame. Some of the scenes could have been epic in 3D.
