Star Wars Eclipse is reportedly the title of the Quantic Dream Star Wars game set in the High Republic era.
During a recent podcast, GiantBomb reporter Jeff Grubb discussed the rumoured Star Wars project, reportedly developed by the Detroit: Become Human developer. Grubb says that the game is "likely going to show up somewhere soon," with a potential reveal at The Game Awards next month or during Disney's 'Bring Home the Bounty' campaign, where at least one Star Wars game is set to be announced. Grubb claims that the title is "ready to be announced soon," so a reveal "before the end of the year" is a possibility. Grubb says he's not certain about the details of the game at this point, but he believes it's set during the High Republic era. In a number of Star Wars novels, that's a period roughly 200 years before the events of the films, where the Galactic Republic and the Jedi occupied something of a golden age. So far, the narrative has been marked by exploration of the edges of the galaxy, before the settlement of what's known in the movies as the 'Outer Rim'. Beyond the broad setting, details are pretty scarce, but Grubb also says that the current title of the project is Star Wars: Eclipse. Rumours of the Quantic Dream Star Wars game surfaced in September, but the game may have been in development for quite a while, especially since the studio's last project is now more than three years old. The studio's narrative style might seem like a strange fit for Star Wars, but it claims it's looking towards a more action-oriented approach, which could offer an interesting take on a galaxy far, far away. https://www.gamesradar.com/the-quant..._medium=social |

I'm not sure what type of game it will be but deeply written narrative intrigue seems to be the Quantic Dream MO with multiple branching routes. No action scenes usually feature anything but QTE and that disappoints me about them a little.

Now that I'm playing through Detroit: Become Human for the first time and loving it, I'm intrigued to see what they do with a Star Wars game.
As for David Cage being involved, it's his company, so you would think Disney knew that going in. Still, at the very least I doubt it would be written by him alone like previous games. I wouldn't have a problem with him being involved regardless as I've loved the two games I've played from them so far (Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human). |

Yeah, he'd have to be involved to some extent. I just can't imagine them allowing him to have much say in the script or general story. And if it's a more action-oriented release compared to typical QD titles I wonder if he'd have even less involvement since that is clearly not his specialty. If Disney wants it to be an action game it seems like a pretty major release to trust to a studio with no real experience in that area, but if nothing else I'm curious to see their tech and art design applied to a Star Wars title. I'm not a fan of QD but it's clear they've got some talented people there.

I've played the Detroit demo, and before that Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy to an extent. I recently saw Heavy Rain on sale on PS Store the other day for under $10.
I also would expect this to be a narrative, story driven game with limited options but strong storytelling. Almost like one of those choose your own path adventure or horror books, but set in Star Wars this time. Could be interesting. Is the writer David Cage in some kind of trouble or controversy for why they wouldn't let him near a Star Wars game? |

The studio has gotten into some trouble for discrimination but the biggest problem for me is that he is simply a terrible writer. I've always wanted to like Quantic Dream games--like I said they've definitely got some talented people there--but his writing is simply awful. That said, I did just see that Detroit had a co-writer involved so I just downloaded it from PS+ and am going to give it a try. Simply having at least one talented write involved to clean up the dialogue and give the characters some dimension would make a huge difference. Cage obviously has the final say with most QD games since he runs the studio but it can only be a good thing if more people are involved in crafting the story. And in the case of the Star Wars game he will obviously not be given free reign, so I am hopeful.

Detroit has some very interesting choices to make regarding what a character would do in any dire situation, it's definitely interesting with how subtle choices can lead to such different results. In that sense, very strong story development, whether one likes the story or doesn't. I can imagine in the future, when AI androids become very life-like with the ability to make their own choices, things could happen potentially as in a game like Detroit. |

If it is based on the High Republic garbage, I'll pass. That stuff is trash. They have a ROCK as a character.
If it is normal SW without the SJW then it could be good. If they gave you a choice of dark or light in the game that could really add to it. |

A lot these days in online news, make headlines without people getting a chance to understand the whole situation, and only get a small piece of the story. But yeah, a rock as a character is definitely out of the ordinary for Star Wars. I've never seen a talking rock or talking tree in the series that I can remember. In Lord of the Rings it could be more believable. |

I enjoyed the Detroit game too. Narrative Choices that actually effect the outcome of the story is an intriguing game mechanic that few developers get right. I think QD did a good job with Detroit. Makes me think of checking out Beyond again as I only finished that game on PS3 but didn’t on the PS4 version. As per Star Wars, (given the right talent @ QD) I think they could do a good cinematic game with meaningful choices. Let’s just hope they don’t rush this project. |

I never got into the Dark Pictures Anthology even though I highly enjoyed Until Dawn. Probably the reviews basically saying that, besides House of Ashes, they aren't as good as Until Dawn didn't help. The reception for House of Ashes from most people has me thinking about fixing that at some point. I know they really aren't continuing stories, but I'd still prefer to start at the beginning of a series regardless. |
