Never thought I’d see a day when a new Guillermo del Toro project gets second priority by me, but here we are.

Spider-Man is probably gonna hover around $200 million if I’m being honest. IMAX and Dolby are being sold out, and there’s even 1am screenings. Avengers-level hype.

Word of mouth will probably push people to hit cinemas up on Saturday/Sunday to avoid spoilers.

Depending also on if people find out Tobey and/or Andrew are in the film (not confirming or denying for those who don't want to be spoiled), but marketing COULD become even bigger or at least help the 2nd week not drop as much if they promote it as such... and if they are in the film!

I voted under... There hasn't been one film this year in the U.S. that has made 100 million in a weekend, so I'm tempering my expectations. Even if it makes 100 million, that's still the most anyone has done this year.

This movie has 10x more anticipation and buzz than anything else released this year however

Yeah, so even just 100 million would be an achievement all things considered. Pre covid, I'd say 170 million with ease. It's just not those times right now.

That's about as likely as True Lies and The Abyss being released on Blu-ray.
